Interesting Tree Fungus

This tree was hollow at the bottom and the fungus had traveled up through the tree trunk. I stuck my hand into the hollow base and it was very hot underground.

The pattern the fungus made is very beautiful, isn't it? A talented woodworker could definitely make something beautiful from this wood.

I saw wood rings used as plate chargers. Your tree is just gorgeous. I could see clear glass plates sitting on top of your wood rings.

Very beautiful indeed! Another idea would be a 'cake stand' sort of thing using a slab. Even just hanging on the wall would be wonderful.

even dying a tree is most beautiful!
and that it felt hot. so strange. oh. or maybe that was from the cutting of the saw? or did it even feel hot later?
fascinating nature.

I can imagine seeing some lovely furniture made from this. Who knew what was going on inside the tree all this time!

I am also a follower of stacey snacks and I feel like you two are "My East Coast friends"...I'm an interior desinger, born and raised SF/California girl....I'm glad your heat is on and everyone is thawing and drying out....I live in a 20's spanish style home and your cottage perspective is fun for me.

Really pretty.
And the suede work gloves make it a very nice photo.
