WOW...Look at the lengths these brave men with their tall ladders are taking to control an insect. Early efforts to eradicate gypsy moths included "egg-scraping parties" to remove egg masses before the larvae hatched. See other archival photos here.
Amazing, they are brave men. No hard hats, no safey ropes or gear, just pure courage and a desire to save trees. I don't like heights, you couldn't pay me enough to do this.

Did it work? Don't we have gypsy moths? I've had a high number of caterpillars in my garden this year.

Karen...I guess it worked for that time period along with that awful poison they sprayed to kill the people too.
Oh my! Taken back before safe work practice was even considered.
Occupational Health & Safety would have a field day!!
