Side staircase in the late Brooke Astor’s Westchester, NY estate, Holly Hill. I wonder if these wonderful dog paintings are in the
auction on September 24 and 25? All copies of the Sotheby's printed catalog have been sold. I found a few of her dog items
here. Photo above found
here.

Wonderful ode to dogs. I like it :)
Brooke Aster had a wonderful dog collection, didn't she?
And she was a real character.
I would love to be able to afford even a tiny dog print from her delightful collection :)
Oh, Rosemary,
This photo was in a magazine years ago and I just salivated. I wanted those dog paintings so much, I started taking art lessons and now have a small wall of my own and others I've bought along the way. I have admired Brooke Astor from afar ever since. Her taste in interior design, collecting and fashion was impecable.
Thank you so much.

Rosemary,
Wow, I had no idea that Brooke Astor loved dogs and/or dog prints. This is great.

HI THERE!
I have been following that spiral staircase for 40 years.....at least!!??!!
I adored Mrs. Astor.....and she adored dogs (your links are such a treasure; thank you!!!!)
the second I read about that sale.....I asked my husband to please order the catalogue! It is "graduate school" for me! It shows many of the items "in situ" (meaning; where they were in her apartment and her divine "country house" (your photo)
There are so many lovely quotations of hers........
I am going to try to bid to get a "scrap" (I met her a few times when I was visiting New York at the Cafe Carlyle) We loved the Vertes murals!
I will treasure and learn from this auction catalogue!
Penelope...
I'm so glad you had the foresight to order the printed catalog. It will be your "go to" reference for your business and your personal inspiration. I think the prices are going to go through the roof. I can't wait to read the results.

Janie...
You couldn't have picked a better person to emulate!
Rosemary
Karen...
The more you read about her the more you love her.
This is going to be a wonderful sale.

Vicki...
You should leave a bid. I have a feeling there will be no bargains slipping by due to the beauty of all of her objects...especially the dog related ones.
