Eating Porridge | Jessie Willcox Smith

This would be me almost every morning without the table cloth and my blue and white Canton bowl is much smaller. Oh, and no onlookers either except for Webster. via

Sweet picture, I wish I liked porridge.

I'm sure I've told you this before but I grew up eating hot cereal most mornings. I vowed to my mother I would never feed it to my children. She assured me that I would but being a strong willed child I kept my word. My kids didn't get oatmeal until they visited an aunt, of course they loved it. I made it them when ever they wanted it after that visit.

I know it's so good for you and I would eat it if I was served it in someone's home. I do try eat healthy, this morning I had a bit of fruit, homemade whole wheat toast and a 1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese.

QV...If you season oatmeal properly it's delicious. I like salt and butter and milk on mine. Some people like it sweet but I don't. Most days I skip the butter but that makes it into a real treat. It is so good for you!
Your kids probably thought you were keeping it from them because it was so delicious.
