Bird Waiting for A Bath

I wish this guy would hurry up. He looks so cute with his punked up head feathers.

He is a very enthusiastic bather. Don't you love my faux bois birdbath? I got it years ago at an on-site auction and it's one of the few real ones I've ever seen.

The fallout is like taking a shower. I won't even need a bath when he finishes. my photos

i love this birdbath! and the pictures.
those look like grapes on the left...?
my full time job in this triple digit drought is to keep the bird bath full of cool water.
we're on water rationing now, so no sprinklers. even with just a trickle coming from the hose though they gather around and race through it like little feathered children! so adorable.
i've even seen wasps, ants, dragonflies and butterflies drinking from the birdbath this year.

good grief rosemary!
i see now that it's a colored leaf full of water on the left.
just beautiful!
(though wonder if they'd eat some grapes... lol)
here they prefer grape popsicles.
wait. maybe that's me.

Tammy...We have some wild grapes on the property that the birds love. I too would love a grape popsicle right now. The colored leaf is wet rusty metal. We've had lots of rain lately to fill the baths and water the lawn. The animals are so happy. I hope you get some relief soon.

So interesting that you put different bowls into the birdbath rather than just filling it as is.

Nancy,

The birdbath leaks so I put bowls in the segmented sections. They prefer the bowl the bird is using for bathing and they drink from the others.

There is something so entertaining about watching birds bathe...they look so focused on their personal hygiene.

You are so smart! All the concrete faux bois birdbaths "leak" (they absorb the water quickly!) birds will only bathe in very shallow water; so you solved both problems beautifully! They need water to drink and to bathe!

Bravo!!

Penelope...One day I shall mend it with hydrolic cement. Mine is lovely inside....looks like a nest.
