The Lone Hydrangea Here At My Cottage

I took this photo of my hydrangea from the balcony looking down to the lower level. A lady let me dig this up from her yard last year because she was moving. It really likes the spot where it's planted because it is so beautiful this year. I don't know the name of this variety but the flowers only bloom on the outer edges. The fluffy centers remain that way. Last year I kept waiting for all the buds to open to no avail. How does your garden grow?

It is a lacecap, but that is the type of bloom not the variety. It is so pretty. My hydrangeas are so stressed from the heat. The blooms are just turning brown.

It's some kind of lace cap hydrangea. Not the more familiar mophead!

Don't know the exact variety.

Ditto, lacecap...you probably have it in partial shade which it likes...also all this rain is good, but could be too much...it's beautiful...enjoy it. Best, Judy

I have a hydrangea which looks a lot like yours. Mine was a happy mistake. I thought I was buying the "regular" variety of these beauties, when instead I now have a lacecap, too. My hydtrangea are flourishing this year. I cannot figure out what I or Mother Nature have done to deserve this. I'll gladly give her all the credit.

I love hydrangeas...but do not see them on the prairies...there are still a few varieties of lilacs ready to bloom in my yard, and the daisies are just about to open...I love the garden!!

Queen's lacecap...love it and it clearly loves where you've planted it. I don't have that variety but I'm tempted after seeing yours.
