Oh how funny! New to your blog; I had no idea you had posted about "Giraffe Manor" which I just commented on!
At the Santa Barbara Zoo ; the "giraffe keeper" had quite a surprise a few months ago! He went in to the "newest (a few months) giraffe to let her outside....and!! Lo and Behold! There was a baby giraffe taller than he was! Born in the night! (Our zoo had purchased the young female Giraffe from the LA zoo I think)
And no one knew she was pregnant! (they don't show!)
In any case; there was the new baby giraffe! And the mother was so young; she didn't know what to do!
So the zoo employees took turns sleeping with this newborn giraffe....for months.....His name is "Daniel"; and a Santa Barbara family who is very , very generous to the zoo.....named him. He is thriving..thanks to the volunteers and zookeepers who slept with him (no exaggeration) every night for months!
