Rosemary, I love this photo. I came across it a while back and saved it to my "Desires of My Heart" folder.
We just loaded up all the dogs and took them to the doggie car wash (a car wash that has a bay specified for dogs). They supply the shampoo, conditioner, and even a blow dryer. They all loved it! It was their special treat for the end of summer.
Wonderful! Have you seen Mary Jane's version? At Mary Jane's Farm she has a claw foot tub with a propane camp stove placed underneath to heat the water. Then she hung pretty sheets over a clothesline for privacy. Perfectly wonderful too!
This brought back such lovely memories of washing my beautiful old black lab. After connecting the garden hose to the faucet above the laundry tub in the garage, I would attach one of those sprinkler heads and turn it to "shower" before pulling the hose out to the driveway. On the stairs leading to the deck would be her big bath towels on the railing, her shampoo on the bottom rung. It was quite a production just getting everything ready! I thought she might enjoy it more if it was warm water so I would let the water run 'til it felt just perfect. Did she appreciate any of this? No! Even though I would tell her that she was beginning to stink to high heaven, none of it mattered. And the minute I was finished, she was released to the deck where she rolled and rolled on an old mattress pad, and licked and licked, trying to get that "awful shampoo smell" off. Ha! Those were the days. I miss her still.
I love hearing about your Webster, a handsome devil. May he enjoy his seasonal bath. It has worked well over the years for me to walk our goldens into the shower stall for their shampoos. Some have gone more willingly than others. But, once brushed, dried, and fluffed, they all were quite proud. Our new pup shows great interest in the bath tub. In fact, recently, it seemed as if she might join me! Oh dear. That would have been splashy. Linda

That would be perfect for Webster!
I also love outdoor showers(in beach communities they are an affordable luxury for many), too.
