Peony Garden | From Last Week's Tour

Here is another photo from last week's tour sponsored by the Garden Club of Somerset Hills. I tend to think peonies are poorly engineered plants with flowers too big and heavy to be supported by their spindly stems, at least that has been my experience. These beautiful specimens don't seem to have that problem. Maybe mine aren't mature enough since I just transplanted them less than a month ago. I'll let you know if I change my mind next year. I did find a great site dedicated to Peonies. Posting it here will help me bookmark it for myself.

We are having San Francisco weather here today. Reminds me of this famous quote: "The coldest winter I ever spent was one summer in San Francisco." Mark Twain

Rosemary,
I have so many nice peonies at my house. The lady of the house before me, they actually built my house, loved her flowers, so I continue on taking care of them for her :)

Rosemary what a beautiful garden! My Peony's are starting to bloom now, and I think after I get home today I will cut some and bring them into the house. Add some color to the dust!

Have a wonderful day.

My favorite flower is the peony - we had many peony bushes in the back yard when I was growing up and I would spend a lot of time out there wishing they would bloom, then once they did, I would have my nose shoved in the flowers. They have the best scent ever...it's too bad they don't very long.

Every time I get to smell a peony(smelled one yesterday at a garden at a place called The Fantastic Umbrella Factory), I regret I don't grow them in my own garden.
