This professional portrait of two dogs dated 1919 is one of my favorite things. I love the fact that the owners of these two pets took them to a studio and posed them in front of a landscape backdrop. They're very sweet, aren't they?
Research shows that people with dogs tend to be happier, live longer, and suffer fewer illnesses. Aren't we lucky to be dog people? I know I am!

Oh, well now I won't worry that my dogs send my parents' and brother's dogs Christmas cards. (And Halloween cards and Thanksgiving cards...)
I can see how Webster might be jealous--those are such cute canines in that old photo.
I have a little book filled with photos such as that one(which you are lucky enough to actually own)taken in the 1800's to early
1900's, of dogs with their owners.
I know for a fact that my mental state improved once I got my dog--I smile and laugh every day because of her and just the daily exercise from the walks is a good thing.
This is so true! I have a very old friend (she isn't old; our friendship is old!); who suddenly lost her husband who was the youngest 60 something you can imagine!
I wrote her a letter. she loved my letter.....and in that letter I suggested that she get a dog.
She told me a couple of years later that she carried my letter in her purse because she would show it to people to explain how close they were. (I am happy I wrote it);
and she said the only mistake she made during that first year; was not getting a dog the day she got my letter. She waited a year.....and that dog helped her so much.
You are so right about dog people. We are blessed beyond.
