Oceano Dunes is one of my favorite places. It offers recreation to over 2 million visitors a year. The state park there is California's most popular state park. I haven't read into Ansel Adams' trip to Oceano, but it's possible he visited in response to Sierra Club opposition to a proposed power plant. Today, I think the Sierra Club has become overly extreme--even though 91% of Oceano Dunes is closed area, the Sierra Club wants it all closed. I am all for protecting the environment--I seriously enjoy seeing the outdoors. There must be balance to allow for human recreation, interaction, and appreciation.

What a beautiful Adams picture and quote too. I love all of his photos but especially his Yosemite shots.
