Miniature Cast Iron Urn

I couldn't believe my luck when I found not one but two of these cast iron urns in a rare small size at a garage sale for $1.00 each. I have them planted with succulents and they give me lots of pleasure sitting on my kitchen windowsill. This one is photographed in front of my favorite set of antiquarian books with hunting motifs on the spines of the fine leather bindings. Life is good!

First Hummingbird Sighting Today

I hung my hummingbird feeder a couple of weeks ago outside my kitchen window. I've noticed that the level of the sugar-water solution I prepared has been going down and today I found out why. Those tiny birds have discovered their sweet nectar and have been feasting while I wasn't looking. It's going to be hard to get decent pictures through the screen. When it gets warmer I'll have to hide out on the balcony and wait, camera in hand. I am thrilled. Stay turned for more hummingbird news.

I had to bring my cilantro and thyme indoors because of the recent cold snap.

Bookmark This Bookmark :-)

Don't you love the floral nosegay used as a bookmark? How pretty these posies look inside the antiquarian book. The sun is finally shining brightly at my house and there is a heavy dew this morning. When everything dries out I have lots of mowing to do. Have a wonderful Thursday. I'll be back later, Rosemary.

Path Covered by Arched Rose Arbors

Is it dark yet? Can I go to bed while it's still light outside? Eight o'clock is usually my bewitching hour to jump under the covers and watch prime time TV. When I turn out the lights and fall asleep I hope I'll dream about this beautiful rose garden. Goodnight. See you tomorrow morning.

Such A Busy Mom

I though I was busy until I found this photo of a Mama Duck and her 10 precious yellow ducklings. She really has her wings full, doesn't she? I am simply swamped with paperwork and am working as hard as I can to dig myself out. Luckily it is too cold and wet to work outside.

Vintage Farmhouse Remodeled So Nicely

Such good taste was shown in this renovation of a circa 1900 New Jersey farmhouse. Agreed?

Antique Bookplate About Birds, Books and Flowers

No wealthy monarch can possess
A greater store of golden hours
Than can be found in happiness
Of birds and books and flowers
I've always loved the message on this bookplate in one of my antiquarian books. It's perfect, isn't it? Have a great day. Wish me luck; I'm having a broker open house at my new listing.

A Kitchen That Is Over The Top

I'd say this kitchen is really over the top, wouldn't you? Don't you love the bread drawers? I think it's way too pretty to mess up. Every time I cook from scratch my kitchen looks like a cyclone hit it. If I am doing holiday cooking I can usually keep it under control but when I bake cookies on the spur of the moment I'm in big trouble. Why is that? I guess my mind isn't ready and didn't get enough advance notice.

Baked Cinnamon French Toast Recipe

I want some of this delicious looking baked french toast NOW from The Pioneer Woman Cooks. Warning, Ree Drummond makes Paula Deen look like a rookie when it comes to using the richest, most fattening ingredients on the planet. I never even thought of tearing up the bread like you do for a strata. Let me know if you make this. Now I'm going downstairs to eat my boring oatmeal.

I'm As Tired As A Raccoon Sleeping In A Tree

I know how this raccoon sleeping in a tree feels. I'm tuckered out too. Goodnight. See you in the morning.

Baby Mine, Lullaby For Dumbo The Elephant

This has to be the ultimate Mother's Day lullaby. I heard it today on NPR and it made me cry. I had completely forgotten about this song written for Dumbo the Elephant. Watch if you dare. It will definitely make you shed a tear or two. Dumbo 1941 Disney
