Bluebird At The Cottage

Have I missed my window of opportunity to take this birdhouse down, clean it out and repaint? The bluebirds have already been going in and out of each compartment to stake out their nesting places. It really looks awful. I might be able to clean it in place with some warm water and a brush. I took this photo last weekend.

I took this photo in January. I wonder if it's the same bird that's perched on top of the birdhouse? It's sunny, cool, and very windy today so things should dry out from all the rain we've had. Happy Friday.

Saint Malo, France

Before I turn off my computer for the night, I though it would be nice to visit Saint Malo, France. I'll definitely have sweet dreams after seeing this lovely photo. Love the sun rays. Goodnight.

Easy Chair Covers Made From Dish Towels

Don't you absolutely love this idea? I have two bistro chairs and I think I'll make covers for their backs out of some pretty dish towels that are too nice to use for drying dishes. So beautiful and so easy too. Wouldn't you like to be invited to this picnic?

Reading In The Attic Of A Cottage

I could almost do this but Webster would have to move. I think I'll go downstairs to finish my wonderful book. See you later. Rosemary

Tulips Standing At Attention

What a riot of color. These tulips look like soldiers standing at attention. Hope you have a happy spring day. It's still cool and rainy at my cottage.

Acorn Drawer Pull

I love acorns and oak leaves in any form. I have an antique sewing table with these wonderful brass pulls.

The Beekeeper's Apprentice

The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King. (The author has a great website.) A novel of suspense featuring Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes. This is the page-turning mystery I'm reading today. It's soooooo good.

I took a little break to whip up two batches of homemade yogurt. I scanned the book cover to share. Highly recommended. Back to reading now. Later, Rosemary

A River Of Blue Flowers

Isn't this river of blue flowers beautiful? I'm engrossed in a good book and it's raining hard outside so I'm seizing the day. My taxes are finished and I deserve some time off. Later, Rosemary

Monday Kitchen Love

I love everything about this kitchen, the white subway tiles, the white cabinets, the gray granite, the gray and white checkerboard floor, the stainless appliances, the artwork, the blinds, absolutely everything. I especially like the cabinet above the sink with side cutouts resembling an antique hanging cupboard. This is absolute perfection in my book.

Tiny Cottage With Thatched Roof

Isn't this the sweetest thing you've ever seen? I love the decorative pattern that was worked into the thatched roof. Only in England can you see these. A few people in New Jersey tried putting these on outbuildings but I don't think they ever caught on. I think it proved to bee too expensive to import craftsmen from Britain. I love the random patches of daffodils too. My first full day of Spring was excellent. Hope yours was too. Rosemary

Three Dogs, An Injured Porcupine, And Three Pelicans

The three pups are showing cooperation and teamwork at an early age.
Poor porcupine...what happened to your leg?
Ouch, when will these young pelicans be able to feed themselves? That poor mother.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. It's a lovely day at my cottage on the first full day of Spring.

Bibury In The Cotswolds

Bibury village is a popular visitor attraction situated in the Cotswolds Gloucestershire a few miles from Cirencester. This is a place I somehow missed in all my travels to the Cotswolds, my favorite section of England. I've been to Cirencester, so close but now so far. Boo Hoo.

Meadow Full Of Red Poppies

I honestly think poppies are my favorite flowers. Is there anything prettier than a meadow full of red ones? I think not.

Chandelier Made of 14,000 Tampons

Did that blog title get your attention? It certainly got mine. I've lived my whole life and never once thought about making anything out of tampons. Certainly not a massive chandelier. It's in a gallery in Lisbon.

Druids Celebrate Spring Equinox At Stonehenge

"The sun rises over Stonehenge as druids celebrate the Spring Equinox at Stonehenge near Amesbury, Wiltshire, England. Several hundred druids and pagans were granted special access to the ancient monument to mark the date in the calender when the length of the day and the night are equal (this happens twice a year, at Spring and Autumn Equinox). To the druids Spring Equinox celebrates the renewed life of the Earth that comes with spring and attribute the changes that are going on in the world to an increase in the powers of their God and Goddess." House And Hedge On The First Day Of Spring

The grass is getting green, can the hedges and trees be far behind?

Today is the first day of spring or the in astronomical terms the vernal equinox when the sun crosses the equator on its journey toward the Tropic of Cancer or the Tropic of Capricorn. Spring lasts until the start of summer at the summer solstice.

Happy First Day of Spring everyone!
