Desk Under The Window In My Pantry
I promised to show you how wonderful my old drafting table looks in my walk-in pantry. The space is small and very difficult to photograph but these images will give you an idea of how very wonderful it is to have a desk under a window. I love to sit in this room and read magazines and cookbooks. It's nice to be able to look out the window and see people walking or bike riding past the cottage. I have a good view of the birdbath in the garden too. My antique opera glasses are perfect for getting a closer look at my feathered friends. I put my favorite desk accessories and pretty things in there and I'm having fun switching them around. Pretty soon I'll be nesting in there for the winter. There is a small radiator under the hanging red cupboard -- you can see it in the first and last pictures. Click to enlarge any image. I'm so happy with this new arrangement. Everything seems fresh and new but nothing is. When you put your old things in new places you see them with new eyes.
Tainted Eggs Will Be Used to Make Ice Cream and Mayonnaise
"Millions of eggs from the Iowa farms at the heart of a massive salmonella recall are not destined for the garbage but for a table near you."
Yikes! I was shocked to learn that the eggs tainted with salmonella that are still being laid by the hens in the heartland could still be used for products that will end up on the grocery store shelves and in their freezers in the form of mayonnaise, ice cream, and liquid eggs. It’s a common if little-known practice in the food industry — salvaging and selling products that may have been tainted with disease.

Pansies in a Stemmed Glass | Beautiful
This image is so beautiful to me. I love the handwriting in the background, the goblet, and especially the flowers. Pansies never fail to make me happy.

Remote Control Devices The Way They Should Be
This made me laugh. So many people I know have no idea what most of the buttons are for on the remote control devices for cable TV. If you know such a person, make one of these sleeves to help them out. You could put the remote on your scanner for an exact copy and then cut away the spaces for the critical buttons.

Hot Water Bottle Cover from An Old Sweater
Start looking for old sweaters at rummage sales, thrift shops, garage sales, etc. to make covers for your hot water bottle. These would make great gifts for all the people in your life that you want to be nice and warm and cozy when they tuck into bed at night this winter. This one looks so easy...no pattern required. No zippers or buttons or buttonholes either. Nice.
