Maple Leaves with Fall Color

Fall is starting to show its face at my house. The maples are just starting to turn.

Very Nice Wall of Framed Photos

I like the arrangement of these framed black and white photos on this sea-foam teal wall. The frames are a combination of black and white as well. Very nice!!!

Sweet Potato Buttermilk Pie Recipe

I'm on a mission to clean up all of my bookmarks. If I blog about them then I'll be able to erase them. I've been saving this recipe from Smitten Kitchen for quite a long time. I want to make it for Thanksgiving or even sooner now that the weather is getting cool. Looks delicious, doesn't it? I always have sweet potatoes in the house and I usually have buttermilk too southern girl that I am.

Thankful Children | Jessie Wilcox Smith

I adore the charming illustrations of children by Jessie Wilcox Smith. I felt like this little boy this morning as I was waiting for my cinnamon raisin toast to pop up out of the toaster; thankful but eager. I love the red geraniums on the windowsill too. [via]

Apples Are My Favorite Things About Fall

I just can't get my fill of these ginger gold apples. They are tart and crisp and they snap when you bite into them. I eat several every day and buy them in great quantities when they are fresh off the trees. What's your favorite variety? Don't you love the way they look in my antique Georgian glass bowl?

Daisies Are The Sweetest Flowers

I took this daisy photo last summer. I can't remember seeing any great daisies on my property this summer. Maybe they though it was too hot . . . and it was. At least I have this to remember them by.

Use Your Head

You know how much I love Phrenology Heads. I've been saving this image because it fits in with the theme. Sorry, don't know the source of the poster.

World's Most Expensive Book | Audubon's Birds of America | Sotheby's London

A rare copy of John James Audubon's "Birds of America" is heading to the auction block and is expected to fetch between $6.2 million and $9.2million.

Billed as the world's most expensive book, it is one of only 119 copies in existence.

The 2-by-3-foot tome consists of 435 hand-colored prints of Audubon's famous illustrations. It comes from the collection of a British baron who died in 1955. Sotheby's London

How to Make Your Own Seed Tape | Tutorial DIY

I've spent quite a lot of time lately cleaning up all my bookmarks. I ran across this site I've been saving forever and it's the perfect time to post this wonderful tutorial since summer's over and there are tons of seeds to be saved. This is the ultimate recycling project that looks like a lot of fun.

"The intent of seed tape is to make planting easier when you have teeny tiny seeds that need to be planted just inches apart (like carrots and radishes). But it’s also fun for gifting flower seeds or giving away seeds you’ve collected from your own garden. And it’s a pretty simple and very kid-friendly project." How to Make Your Own Seed Tape

Don't forget this little seed planting rhyme:
"One for the fox, one for the crow, one to rot, and one to grow."

Cold and Rainy Today

It's cold and rainy here at the Cottage today. I have to go out later but not before I locate my Irish fisherman knit sweater. Brrrr. I hope you are nice and cozy at your house. It is supposed to be hot again next week. I miss summer already. The photo above is from last year. My geraniums still have flowers but not this many. I've been neglecting them lately. I'll be bringing them inside for the winter all too soon.

Saturday Night Moonlight Swim

I was just about to turn off the computer when I came across this photo on Pixdaus and had to share. I guess the mother swan is trying to tire out the little ones so they will sleep through the night. Goodnight all. See you tomorrow. via
