Formula For Living: Cary Grant
I think he had a lot of fun with the in between part. The photo in the little 2-seater BMW was taken in 1954. Over a half century later these tiny cars are hot once again but not nearly as hot as Cary Grant 1904-1986.
Fear of Friday The 13th
Did you know that Fear of Friday the 13th is called two of the biggest words I've ever seen? They are paraskavedekatriaphobia + friggatriskaidekaphobia. Thank goodness for copy and paste! Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.
I didn't even realize it was Friday the 13th until I looked at my calendar just now. I am not superstitious since my birthday is September 13th and I have had a few fall on a Friday. Nothing bad has ever happened. As for today, so far so good! Hope the same holds true for you too. Rosemary

Brown Pelican Removed From Endangered List
I was very excited to hear on the news last night that after nearly 40 years on the brink of extinction, the Brown Pelican is coming off the endangered species list. It's so good to hear something positive about the environment every once in a while, isn't it? Read more.
John James Audubon would be so happy that these pelicans did not go the way of the Carolina Parrot and the Passenger Pigeon and become extinct. Thanks for stopping by the cottage for today's natural history lesson. ~Rosemary
Metropolitan Home | Another Magazine is Folding
Another home/shelter magazine is folding after the December 2009 issue. Metropolitan Home it is one of several home magazines to be eliminated in the last two years, given the bad housing market and lack of disposable income for redecorating. Read more. I guess Lonny has the right idea being exclusively an online publication.

Bradley Court in Gloucestershire England :: An Elizabethan Tudor
You will love this 16th century manor home in England with additions constructed in the 17th and 18th centuries. The gazebo the present owners (furniture designer Thomas Messel and his wife the artist Pepe Messel) are sitting before was built in 1707. I know you will enjoy the additional photos in this slideshow presented by The Magazine Antiques. Read more about the history and ownership of this magnificent estate here. Isn't it wonderful to see fabulous period furnishings in a proper house? ~Rosemary

"Girls Are Like Apples" | Pete Wentz
Life's Little Instruction Book, page 142 and more
I almost never rush into making a decision, especially if its major. I only have real maple syrup in my refrigerator. The other stuff is just flavored high fructose corn syrup. I could really use one of those antique bookstands like the one in the classroom full of old desks. The last photo is called Nature's Fireworks. Thanks for stopping by the cottage for your daily dose of inspiration. ~Rosemary

Cate Blanchette on Cover of December American Vogue
Cate Blanchette is a good reason to go out and buy the December issue of American Vogue. Don't you agree? She's one of my very favorite actors. I have to admit I prefer calling her an actress or is that politically incorrect these days? ~Rosemary

Delightful Catskill Farmhouse
Don't you love this renovated Catskill farmhouse that a painter has filled with vignettes, created by pairing objects old and new, high with low. View more photos by Tony Cenicola via The New York Times slideshow. Enjoy!
My weekend was wonderful. How was yours? I took Webster and Tabitha to the free rabies clinic and they were so good. Can't say the same for some of the other animals though. Now they are set for another three years. I am so glad I remembered the date. I went to a house contents sale just up the road and everyone was talking about a rabid raccoon that was staggering around in broad daylight. The authorities had been called but hadn't arrived. Thankfully, I didn't see the sick animal. ~Rosemary

Albert Einstein Favored The Simple Life
As I continue to clean and purge, organize and rethink, recycle and donate, downsize and resisist the urge to buy more, I am so very inspired by the clear thinking of Albert Einstein. ~Rosemary
