My New Year's Wish for Everyone in 2012

Health, Peace, and Sweet Content Be Yours. Shakespeare
I scanned this image from one of my antiquarian books and sent it as my Christmas Card several years ago. It is still my favorite. I think it works beautiful as a New Year's Card too.

My Feet Are Planning a Party Later

When I get back from outside activities, this is what I'll be doing. This is my actual foot and my fireplace. Don't you love thick wool socks?

I scanned this wonderful dog frame from one of my antiquarian design books and added the wonderful text by Dorothy Draper.

Ralph Waldo Emerson House with Friends Quote

There must be lots of happy houses this weekend. I scanned this image from an old address book and added the type. I was honored by being a guest at a lovely Thanksgiving dinner last night in a happy home.

Pomegranates Are In Season

Though the ancients used pomegranate skin and bark for medicinal purposes, only the seeds are edible. Fresh pomegranate is available from September until January. When refrigerated in a plastic bag, pomegranates will keep for up to 2 months. I love the colorful seeds in a salad or sprinkled on plain yogurt.

I superimposed this pomegranate scan from my Royal Book of Crests over one of my leaf studies with Photoshop.

Friends Make Happy Houses

I couldn't agree more. I scanned this image from an old address book purchased at a tag sale and added the text. I loved the cover.

Royal Dog Collar

I made this illustrated quote using a scan from my antiquarian book, The Royal Book of Crests. I have no idea what breed of dog actually wore the collar from Alexander Pope. I was amazed that I could find an image so fitting for a Royal Dog Collar.

A Mark Twain Weekend

I got rid of that big tree that fell on my private road in the back. So happy. When you work hard you can follow Mark Twain's advice and eat what you like. That's my reward today. I love his humor, don't you? I scanned his face from the cover of an old Time Magazine.

St. Patrick's Day Illustrated Quote with Dog

I scanned the dog from my antiquarian book on Royal Crests. After inserting the quote and putting it on a bed of shamrocks it became perfect for St. Patrick's Day.

William Arthur Ward Illustrated Quote for Monday

Pretty soon we will be seeing oak seedlings everywhere. The acorns have been buried all winter and are about to spring forth very soon. Gardeners who plant their gardens from seeds can relate to this quote by William Arthur Ward (1921-1994). I scanned the acorn from The Royal Book of Crests, one of the antiquarian books in my collection.

Audrey Hepburn Illustrated Quote for A Sunday

Isn't it wonderful that Audrey Hepburn was brought up to put others first? What great parents she must have had. We still miss her loveliness, don't we?

Pablo Picasso Illustrated Quote

I love this quote by Pablo Picasso and his self-portrait too. You can only learn something new by trying.

Happy Friday

There is still plenty of time left in the day to try and get everything done all by yourself so you can have a great weekend.

English Gardening Proverb

I am repeating this illustrated quote about gardening that I made ages ago. I'm so glad I remembered to put all of my watering cans in the garage for the winter. I learned the hard way not to leave them outside and let the water that collects freeze and expand to cause leaks. The nice old ones are getting harder and harder to find.

Rudyard Kipling Illustrated Gardening Quote

It is time to sit by the fire and flip through all of those gardening and seed catalogs that arrive in the mail almost daily this time of year. I know many of you have cabin fever and maybe dreaming of spring will help cure it.

Your Dog

I made this illustrated quote long before I knew an actual French Bulldog. Webster and I are doing well since we returned Piggie to our friends. I think Webster likes being "only dog" again. We woke up to a cold morning and I see some dark clouds overhead. Thinking about a fire later and comfort food all day long.

Have a great weekend. Kiss your dog for me.
