Bluebird On The Roof

Even though I have a birdhouse full of bluebirds right outside my window, I never fail to be thrilled when I see one. I can see this portion of my garage roof very clearly from my attic studio. This is fresh off the press. News Alert ~ Blubird sighting.

Friday Bluebird Fix

There is a lot of activity in all the holes of this birdhouse with bluebirds building nests in each compartment. I never knew they liked communal living but I guess I was wrong. I snapped this photo from my attic studio. The second pic was cropped from the first to show you the bird up close. I never get over the thrill of seeing such beautiful plumage. They really are the birds of happiness. I hope you have a happy day too.

UPDATE: I just added the third photo. Look closely and you'll see the female taking nest-building material into the hole. The male just hangs around looking beautiful or perches on top of the house acting as the lookout.

I currently use Adobe Photoshop Elements for all my photo editing.

Bluebird At The Cottage

Have I missed my window of opportunity to take this birdhouse down, clean it out and repaint? The bluebirds have already been going in and out of each compartment to stake out their nesting places. It really looks awful. I might be able to clean it in place with some warm water and a brush. I took this photo last weekend.

I took this photo in January. I wonder if it's the same bird that's perched on top of the birdhouse? It's sunny, cool, and very windy today so things should dry out from all the rain we've had. Happy Friday.

"The bluebird carries the sky on his back." Henry David Thoreau quote . . .

I have bluebirds on my property and it never fails to thrill me each time I see one.

Happy Friday everyone! The weatherman has promised me a 70 degree day. I think I should try to organize my gardening tools and get ready to play outside later.

Enjoy your upcoming weekend. ♥Rosemary

Wake me when it's summer or Let sleeping dogs lie + Bluebirds . . .

Webster was begging to go outside and sun on the deck but in no time he wanted to get back in because it is still very chilly. I put blankets under him and over him and that did the trick.

He looks so comfortable I am tempted to join him! By the way, the bluebirds are back! They've been scouting out their nesting places and have already called dibs on both of the houses you see behind Webster.

Have a happy weekend. ♥Rosemary

Bluebird house on my property...

This might be considered a repeat photo. I used another version of this bluebird box in my very first post. I like this version better because it doesn't have anything intruding in the upper left corner. I love the blurred background.

Bluebird sighting...

I was lucky that my camera was handy when this bluebird perched on a bracket hanging on my balcony railing. I never tire of seeing these beautiful birds. They are very beneficial too since they eat nothing but insects. They like their nesting boxes located in areas with sparce vegetation so they can swoop down on the unsuspecting bugs. This one has the biggest weeds you have ever seen in your life to the rear and mowed grass in the front of his house. The families return every year and I see them as early as February scouting out their territory. I make sure the houses are cleaned out and ready for them. A sighting never fails to thrill me!

I need new friends.

It is official. I need new friends!!! Here are some comments I have received upon showing off my new blog to existing friends and associates.

•What's a Blog?
•Wow, that's the first one I have ever read.
•Where do you find the time?
•Can you help me do one too?
•What's the value?
•Why would I want to read it?
•Who reads it?
•Who took your pictures?
•What site did you use?
•Do other people have blogs too?
•Who taught you how to do it?
•How much does it cost?

So far only four of my old friends have shown any genuine interest...♥Stacey, ♥Kelly, ♥Lynn, and ♥Marybeth. I have a link to Stacey's Blog. See my section called Sites that I Like. She is a fabulous cook and you will love her recipes and dialogue.

My photograph for the day is a bluebird perched on top of a birdhouse on my property. Who took the picture? I did!!! That is the main purpose of this blog. I needed another creative outlet for my photography and this is the perfect venue. I hope you will check in each day to see my new posts.
