Great Kitchen in An Alabama Lake House

I love the simple painted cabinets against the unpainted knotty wooden walls and floors. Designed by Tracery Interiors. Click here to see other rooms in this lakeside cottage on Silverock Cove at Smith Lake. Very nice indeed.

Best Library Ladder Ever!

Bookshelves in Haga Castle - Sweden. I would dearly love to have a library ladder like this one with a built-in handrail and shelf. Image by ©Massimo Listri/CORBIS

Perfect Winter Porch

Now this is just plain wonderful, isn't it? Don't you love the use of a real tree instead of a column for the porch support? Just give me a big thermos full of hot chocolate, wrap me up in a big wool blanket, and call me when supper's ready. Absolutely heavenly! via

Purrfect Santa

This little Santa's helper doesn't care for the cold weather or the snow.

Snow is All Around

Snow is all around me but so far we've had no accumulation. Crossing my fingers that it holds off for quite a while. It feels very raw today and the frost on my garage roof is rather heavy. Brrr. See you later.

Illustrated Quote About Architecture

My photograph of a beautiful sky seemed perfect for this quote. Agreed?

Blue Spruce At The Cottage

I hope I never have to cut down any of the blue spruce trees that I grew from seedlings. They are my favorite evergreens and I have a whole grove in front of my cottage. Today this tall tree is covered with rain drops; it's a very gloomy day indeed. At my office meeting today I noticed that the people in the house across the street already have their Christmas tree up, lights and all. It's way too early in my opinion but I guess people with little children get the Christmas spirit long before I do.

Big Table Covered with Big Books

Big tables were meant for big books. I'd love to sit here all day and scoot my chair around reading them, wouldn't you?

Goodnight, Sleep Tight

I am hitting the hay early to watch some quality TV [hopefully]. My DVR is getting rather full of programs I haven't had time to watch. See you tomorrow.

Albino Wallaby with Baby in Pouch

That baby looks like a pink greyhound, doesn't it? I wonder if he will be an albino too when he gets his fur? I love seeing photographs of unusual animals, don't you? via Pixdaus and Flickr

Best Friends Say Goodnight

Here we are at the end of our first day together. Webster and Piggie only had a few rough spots and Piggie was the snappy one. It seems he doesn't care to share food and/or affection. Webster had his feelings hurt half a dozen times but he let Piggie be the alpha dog. That's the way he is, my Webster. We had four long walks and lots of lap time. Webster almost never goes near the sofa, until tonight. Can you see why?

W
ill he ever be the same again? Goodnight all.

I'd Love To Sleep Here Tonight

I've decided that this would be a wonderful place to sleep tonight. A real tree house with a room on the ground floor and a window too. The moon was only a sliver the last time I looked My moon tonight is almost identical to this one and my daytime sky looked very much the same with big puffy clouds. I'm sure I will have sweet dreams on my mattress stuffed with milkweed down. I hope the owls come and perch on the limbs of this magnificent beech tree and serenade me to sleep.
