Is this the ugly ducking of the owl world? I'm sure he looks a lot better when his feathers are dry. Is this a newborn? Not sure but I loved the photo and hope you do too. via Pixdaus

Angry Bird
I've never played the game Angry Birds, have you? This owl could be he poster child for it. He's probably not angry at all. His eyes look absolutely electric, don't they? Have a great weekend. via

Every Baby Needs a Stuffed Toy Owl
These Turkmenian Eagle Owlets were rejected by their mother and are being hand raised at The Linton Zoo and Gardens in Cambridgeshire, UK. There are 3 owlets...see pics of them when they were first born with a stuffed hedgehog (or maybe it's an owl) keeping watch over them. They certainly have grown since they were hatched last Easter.

Orbit The Orphaned Owl Loves His Stuffed Toy
In his five short weeks of life, Orbit hasn’t met many other owls.
So he isn’t at all worried that his new best friend doesn’t hoot back.
The orphaned chick is perfectly content in the company of the stuffed bird perched next to him and is never far from his side.
Orbit, a common barn owl, was given the toy by Lyndsey Wood, his care giver at Folly Farm, near Narberth in West Wales.
She said: ‘A friend suggested that I find something like a toy owl to stop Orbit from feeling lonely. I thought he might try to eat it, but he just cuddles up to it and goes to sleep.’
All you need is a friend. Somehow I keep finding these wonderful stories about orphaned baby animals and you know I'll keep sharing them with you! I found this one on Tumbler.com

Owl with Spanish Moss
Another owl to delight you. This one is sitting on a tree limb draped with Spanish moss. I think I've mentioned before that the parkland adjacent to my cottage is the habitat for screech owls. I hear them at night in the summer when the windows are open but never see them.

The Owl and The Pussycat in Real Life
A real-life owl and pussycat. A kitten and owl have become inseparable since their unlikely friendship began. A litter of stray kittens was turned in to The Hawk Conservancy Trust in Hampshire UK after they were found abandoned on a nearby road. One pussycat has become firm friends with Nigel, a white-faced scops owl. Heartwarming Photo by Mathew Grocoot - Caters News

Antique Owl Andirons
I've always liked figural cast iron andirons -- especially the owls. My friend Jill has a pair with eyes made from antique marbles. These are nice too. Another friend has a pair of Hessian Soldiers. It's a good time to fire them up now that it's getting colder.
