Bundles of Bat Babies

Baby Bats are swaddled in tiny blankets while trying to recover from the Australian floods. I saw this picture on the nightly news and was delighted to find an article about these cute orphans and their caregivers with more photos right here. I wish I could find a picture of them hanging on the clothes line. That's what they do to these bunting babes when they come out of intensive care. Awwwww.

Life's Little Instruction Book | Volume II, Page 30

It's been a while since I published a page from Life's Little Instruction book. Sorry. I won't wait so long again. I know you love reading this man's advice to his son when he went off to college. Always inspiring.

Photo Disguised As A Landscape Painting

Here is another photograph of the Audumn Sky that is as pretty as any painting I've ever seen. via Things are getting back to normal and I have my first office of the year this morning. I haven't checked the list but I honestly doubt that there will be any open house tours today. Things do seem to be picking up so we'll see. I'll be back later.

Flamingo Meets Reflection

An absolutely amazing photo by Beth Goodson. She calls it "Joined at the water." It's very painterly, isn't it? I love this bird's markings reflected in the rippled water looking so much like the marbleized paper in my antiquarian books.

Sewing Machine Power

I love this quote. "Never Underestimate the Power of a Woman with a Sewing Machine." Image from Crust Party ~ She sews with a red hot needle.

National Gingerbread House Competition

The Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC was the site for the 2010 National Gingerbread House Competition. Can you believe the creations in the three photos above are made from gingerbread? The contest wasn't limited to houses as you can see. Click here to see more delightful pictures of the winning entries in all age groups. Aren't they simply awesome?

Holiday Botanical Bedroom

Wouldn't this be the perfect bedroom to sleep in tonight? I love the Holiday Botanical bedding.

Both images: Pottery Barn
I still have a few presents to wrap and some dishes to make ahead of time for tomorrow. I can't wait until I can jump in bed and cover my head to wait for Christmas morning. Goodnight all. Merry Christmas!

Presents on The Christmas Tree

I love wonderful illustrations of vintage Christmases. These children are reaching and/or waiting their turn to pick a present from the tree ~ circa 1924. Scanned from my book A Christmas Blessing.

Black and White Kitchen Love

I wouldn't change a thing in this beautiful kitchen. You know how much I love a black and white checkerboard floor having had one myself in my previous kitchen. I really want to see more of that room behind the partially opened door, don't you? Is it a bedroom? We want more in case anyone is listening reading. Simply charming!

River Landscape in Cumbria, England

Such a peaceful winter scene in the Lake District of the English countryside. No wonder Beatrix Potter decided to settle in this region.

Office with Lots of Bookshelves

If I were designing an office from scratch this might be the one. I can picture myself in this space paying bills, blogging, playing on the computer, addressing Christmas cards, listening to Christmas music and flipping through books. All of my favorite modern volumes on architecture and interior design could live there. My collection of antiquarian books with fine bindings would be in the library with a wood burning fireplace.

Have a fine day. See you later.
