Hello, August -- Gather Your Rosebuds

New version of this etching from my Royal Book of Crests showing what a difference a thin black border can make. It's not that obvious when you view it on a computer and in the full version of my blog with the gray background. But it makes all the difference in the world when you see it in the email version if you subscribe or in the mobile version if you are viewing on an iPad or your phone. August always make me want to hold on to each day in the last month of summer and gather all the buds I possibly can before the leaves start falling.

August certainly feels like a wakeup call. Like you, I suddenly want things to slow down, but mainly because I haven't finished or even gotten started on all I wanted to accomplish this summer.

Today's cool, rainy weather felt much like an early spring day...but it was good to be forced inside.

...all is grace!

Anita ~ the cabin on the creek :: Anita, I worked outside off and on almost all day, between showers, and enjoyed it immensely. I transplanted lots of dahlias that were in the wrong place to my back garden that is now strictly for dahlias except for one lavender plant. They don't even know they were moved and when the sun comes out again, they will be so happy. I weeded the plot on Friday & Saturday. I still need to move mountains in August and like you, I have barely made a dent in all I need to do. Good luck with all of your projects.

I know there must be a logical explanation, but it's so interesting how that thin black border makes all the other black parts of the painting appear bolder. It sounds like you worked hard this weekend, Rosemary. Good for you! I trim shrubs and weeded--not finished yet, but making progress.

Rainy and cool tonight in Utah. We need the rain and it stormed for a bit. We have had such a hot summer and severe drought. We are hoping for some heavy snow this winter…but first beautiful autumn will visit.

Pam -- I know what you mean about the thin black border making all the difference in the world. I am so happy I finally learned how to do it with Snapseed! I don't think I will ever finish all the weeding I have to do before fall but I'm glad you made a dent in yours.

Mom -- I hope you get lots of snow in Utah to make up for the drought conditions and a beautiful Autumn before winter sets in.
