Old Photos from My Phone

I have no idea where this photograph came from but I loved it and saved it to my phone. I think this cottage is the ideal size and the construction materials are ones that will last several lifetimes. Isn't the chimney fabulous?

I don't know the source of this photo either but I loved the wattle fencing at the time and still do. Isn't this walled garden beautiful.

I love this childhood oil on canvas portrait of a friend of mine with her cat. I photographed it when her house was for sale. She still has the same face. I didn't get her permission to post it online but I don't think she will mind. Isn't the embroidered name on the sash of her pinafore wonderful? She surely must have been an adored child.

I woke up this morning to a little shower but the sun is out now. Good weather for the seeds I planted yesterday. Have a lovely Sunday. xo

Mama Pea -- Thank you. It was a nice trip down memory lane.

Here in northern California we are experiencing more rain, most welcome for the magnificent redwoods....truly, truly lovely. At the same time, and I don't want this to sound ungrateful, but the underbrush is growing too and in recent years California has been under attack by wildfires. It's a double-edged sword. Maybe the healthy underbrush is better than the dead stuff we had during the drought years.

You can water 'til you're blue in the face but there's nothing like rain water for plants. Your newly-planted seeds will love Mother Nature's morning sprinkling.

Love the old stone cottage and chimney. For a long time now, I've wanted a cottage, ideally made of stone, with a garden.

Gail, northern California -- The animals need the woodland undergrowth and the rain too. I suppose residents should clear a big swath of undergrowth all around their dwellings to help the potential wildfire situation. There is no easy solution. is there? Yes, I think the green healthy new growth is much better than the dry wood after the droughts. I wish I could send some NJ rain your way. We have way too much. My seeds should be sprouting by the weekend.

lisa -- I hope you get the stone cottage with a garden you've been dreaming about one day soon.

Gail I totally relate to your comment. I too am trying not to be ungrateful that it has been raining constantly in our desert state of Utah. No amount of irrigation can do what rain does for plants, trees and grass. That being said our ground is saturated and now one starts to worry about flooding. Enough about that!

I too have so many photos in my phone Rosemary of things I just love and like you often wonder where they came from. In fact I have too many photos as just this week my phone informed me that it is full.

My eyes were drawn immediately to that cottage chimney, so interesting. That walled garden is just dreamy perfection. Who wouldn't love to have such a beautiful and well organized garden space. My favorite photo though, on your post today, is the painting of your friend, what a treasure. I bet she still has a cat or cats. The pinafore is adorable. I had a pinafore when I was a child but it didn't have my name embroidered on it, I bet you did too.
