Full Moon on my Tall Case Clock

I am so happy I looked at my calendar this morning and learned tonight was the full moon. I'm not that surprised because when I went to bed last night the moon was very bright. Luckily, I was able to move the moon dial on my tall case clock this morning. There is some sort of gear that locks it into position at certain times of the day but it was unlocked at 9:20 this morning. My kitchen has a low cathedral ceiling. My roofline is in sections and this was the lowest part of my attic and there was no way to stand up in any part of it. It just made good sense to incorporate it into my country kitchen at the time I was renovating 2002-2003. I had no idea the other ceilings in my cottage on the main floor with the one-room-wide living room, hallway to my two bedrooms, and full bath were 7'8" and my clock needs a full 8' to stand up with the center finial. This was the ONLY place to put it when I moved in and it turned out to be absolutely perfect. Isn't it funny how unplanned things sometimes turn out so well? See you later. xo

And tonight is a Super Snow Moon! Don’t think I will be seeing this moon tonight .... as I speak, we are have a thunderstorm, in February no less. Looks like nothing but rain in the foreseeable future in my neck of the woods. Arrrgh!

JudyMac -- Judy, We are supposed to have snow all day tomorrow beginning at 11:00am. We shall see what Mother Nature brings. I'm not excited about it as you can well imagine. The weather people got the last two wrong so maybe it won't be bad. Your rain sounds much better to me.

I LOVE your clock, Rosemary. I've always wanted one of those Gustavian Mora clocks - you know, the ones that have that sort of hourglass kind of shape - but yours is divine. Sigh...getting the moon's phase from a smart phone just isn't the same.

Your clock is beautiful, Rosemary. I was really looking forward to seeing the Super Snow Moon, but that big wintry front has moved in. At least we'll be able to see pictures of it. This morning, I got up around 5 AM and the moon was really beautiful as it was setting in the west. I'm one of those people who's always watching the sun, moon and stars (and my hubby would say I've got my head up in the clouds).

That is the most sensational tall case clock I have ever seen! And I have seen a lot of them! Brilliant to eliminate that attic space. Your kitchen is so wonderful, and the colors so subtle and classic. Bravo! 2002! Totally timeless and elegant and authentic country not "Country"!!

Brilliant.

I love your kitchen!

Love your clock and where it sits near the pantry and in the kitchen . . . a true hub.
Been snowing here since 5 am. Lovely. Promises to continue until evening. Sadly the last bit will turn to sleet. Not good. Not pretty.
Probably no Snow Moon for we night sky gazers here in northern VA.
Hope you are able to stay indoors and safe as I am here today . . . making soup my only flirtation with danger.

Lisa -- I'm glad you love my New Jersey tall case clock too. I keep it wound because I love to "hear" what time it is every hour. We love our smart phones too; I don't know what I would do without mine. I find my land line nothing but an annoyance with so many spam calls.

Pam -- It's good to look up and see what's going on in the heavens. I got very little snow today, fewer than three inches so I'm thrilled. The clouds will give way to some sun tomorrow in the late morning and maybe we will be able to see the moon in the evening.

Penelope Bianchi -- Penny, Thank you for your kind words of praise for my clock. It's a keeper, for sure. I bought it directly from an old house about 30 years ago. Glad you like my country kitchen too.

Linda, I didn't get much snow at all, thankfully and tomorrow it's going to be in the 50s so it will melt. Your flirting with danger by making soup made me laugh. I'll bet it was delicious!

Such a beautiful clock and your pantry is wonderful! I went out last night to see the moon but it was so cloudy it wasn't visable.

It is certainly beautiful and in the perfect spot!

Betty -- Thank you. I haven't been able to see the moon either since the night before it was a true full moon. We did have sun today and a lot of my snow melted. I saw a Carolina Wren singing her heart out today so maybe Spring is around the corner.

Sorry, I'm late to the party, had company for the past several days. Sent them off and now more tomorrow so catching up with you in between the hosting.

Your clock is fabulous and I have to say I agree with Penelope as I so often do. Your kitchen just invites one in and I love the clock in the kitchen, it's what I would call the unexpected surprise. The moon dial is so pretty, I wouldn't mind having it showing all the time.

Didn't get to see the big snow moon because of SNOW. My brother in the southern part of our state got a very nice view and photo of it.
