Looks like a girl's play house. Perhaps the girl's dolls, Lucinda and Jane, live there, and Hunca Munca comes in to tidy every morning. On an entirely different note, I have just finished watching Judy Dench being interviewed by Charlie Rose. Highly recommend watching it (on his website), if you are a fan of Dame Judy . Can't wait to see her new movie.
I think that is so interesting! I absolutely LOVE the landscaping! (lack thereof); I would get rid of the few bushes next to the house...it is so elegant and simple. Very great! And there is a step! I ADORE!!! See "Tara Dillard" blog.....unlandscape.....or something like that! It is my philosophy!!!!
Penelope Bianchi -- Penny, I am not fond of any foundation plantings and have none. I agree wholeheartedly with you and Tara Dillard about an unlandscape. xo, Rosemary
justaweecatnap -- The video you mentioned on the Carlie Rose website has finally become available in my area. I adored watching Dame Judy Dench discuss her new movie "Victoria and Abdul" which is now out in theaters. Now I must see the movie. Thanks so much for the recommendation: https://charlierose.com/videos/30981 xo, Rosemary
So charming, a little hideaway in the woods and of course, painted white. I think the lack of landscaping around the cottage works because of all the wonderful large trees. If you didn't have them the cottage would be quite naked and then I think would need some plantings around it's foundation....just my uneducated landscaping opinion.

I hope they have a deck or a screened in porch on the back. It looks like there might be a great view back there. :-)
Gosh, I just noticed there isn't a step to get in the front door. YIKES!
