I'll have to buy some decorative kale next week for several planters in the front that now contain geraniums with no flowers. I like kale much better than mums in the fall because the plants last a lot longer. The mums get zapped with the first killing frost but the kale just keeps on going and growing because it's a cold weather crop.

I like that flowering kale can survive so long(into December, even) and you have changed my plans to buy mums for my front bed this week. Instead, I will get kale.
I too am a kale in the garden fan. I've been on the hunt for that ruffled dark purple and green Kale in your picture. I get some every year but haven't been able to find any yet. So many shops and stores have cut back on their inventories due to the economy, I hope they didn't all cut this Kale variety from their orders.
