Blackberry Pies with Cornmeal Crust - Recipe

Don't these look divine? I bought two cartons of big fat blackberries a few days ago and they were delicious. I think they are my favorite berries since I grew up picking them in the wild.

The recipe looks very simple and so does the cornmeal crust.
The website is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen.
Enjoy viewing it and dreaming of blackberries.

We had blackberry bushes in our back yard. We mostly ate them in a bowl with milk. As kids, we though it was fun to have purple milk.

The blackberries look delicious. I love them in a blackberry & apple pie, and it's such fun to go blackberry picking in the hedgerows.

Those pastries look delicious. Growing up, we picked the small blackberries that grew on thorny canes. My grandpa and I would pick, then grandma would bake a pie. Fast forward about 50 years, and I decided I wanted a blackberry patch. We planted Triple Crown (I think that's the name). They were a thornless variety, and very easy to grow. I have to admit, I think the old fashioned blackberries have a better flavor, but the newer varieties without thorns are the winner in my book! Thanks for giving us the link to the recipe, Rosemary!

Tasha T -- Blackberries in an apple pie? That sounds absolutely yummy. I have wild raspberries and fond memories of blackberry picking with my mother and eating her pies. xo, Rosemary

Pam -- You were so smart to plant thornless blackberries! Be sure to save this recipe and bake some when your bushes are producing. My grandmother always made blackberry preserves when someone picked them for her rather than a pie. I see you have fond memories of your grandparents and blackberries too. xo, Rosemary
