Fried Apple Rings

I haven't had breakfast yet. These apple rings dipped in a yogurt batter and fried made my mouth water. Great donut alternative. See more photos and get the recipe here. xo

Mr. Pickles -- The person who made these used GALA apples. I think you could use almost any sweet firm apples. I have Pink Lady in my crisper right now. They would be good. Also Honey Crisp. Good luck.

Catherine -- Thanks. Your recipe looks good too using buttermilk. Yum.

Why have I never seen those before? What a wonderful idea for a dessert that is semi-healthy too.

I need my daughter to learn how to make these without flour. In the meantime I'm drooling.

Linda Sand == Your daughter can grind up regular oats in the Cuisinart food processor to make oat flour which is gluten free if that is what you are trying to achieve. Or you could use buckwheat flour or coconut flour. There are so many alternatives these days. You could roll cardboard in cinnamon sugar and it would taste good. (Smile)

I'm confused. I don't see yogurt anywhere in the recipe. Calls for buttermilk?

Susan from Kentucky -- You are right. Maybe the person who made this didn't have yogurt and used buttermilk instead. I think you could use either. Or half regular milk and half yogurt as well.
