Tainted Eggs Will Be Used to Make Ice Cream and Mayonnaise

"Millions of eggs from the Iowa farms at the heart of a massive salmonella recall are not destined for the garbage but for a table near you."
Yikes! I was shocked to learn that the eggs tainted with salmonella that are still being laid by the hens in the heartland could still be used for products that will end up on the grocery store shelves and in their freezers in the form of mayonnaise, ice cream, and liquid eggs. It’s a common if little-known practice in the food industry — salvaging and selling products that may have been tainted with disease.
Click on this link to learn more. I find this news to be very upsetting, don't you? YUCK.

Remote Control Devices The Way They Should Be

This made me laugh. So many people I know have no idea what most of the buttons are for on the remote control devices for cable TV. If you know such a person, make one of these sleeves to help them out. You could put the remote on your scanner for an exact copy and then cut away the spaces for the critical buttons.

The source for the photo called it "Remote Controls for Grandparents" . . . I forgot to bookmark the site, sorry.

Don't you love this Circa 1840 Wooden Doll's Head? I especially like the way the hair is carved. The wear and patina are just right. Do want.

Hot Water Bottle Cover from An Old Sweater

Start looking for old sweaters at rummage sales, thrift shops, garage sales, etc. to make covers for your hot water bottle. These would make great gifts for all the people in your life that you want to be nice and warm and cozy when they tuck into bed at night this winter. This one looks so easy...no pattern required. No zippers or buttons or buttonholes either. Nice.

Gray Day Inspiration

This gray interior matches the weather outside at my house all day. I can't wait until it gets a little darker so I can jump in my bed for some quality prime time TV with the first program being Antiques Roadshow. See you tomorrow.

Pedicure Socks + Yoga Socks | Free Knitting Patterns

I've never knitted any socks because turning the heel aways scared me. These socks would make cute gifts for your friends. I always see ladies walking around in the winter in flip flops with cotton sticking up from their toes and naked feet. These cute pedicure socks are just the ticket, aren't they? Love the yoga socks too.

Rainy Day At The Cottage

I'm not complaining about the rain because we really need it. I weeded in it yesterday and got soaked to the skin but it was fun. Webster whinned until I let him go indoors - he doesn't like to be wet. I'm putting everything in the garden to bed for fall. I know it's early but in pulling up the crabgrass, I've managed to pull up everything around it too. Now I'm down to bare earth. I think I should order a load of woodchips so I won't have mud in the house. Just letting you all know that progress has been made around here. Have a great week.
