Black and White Kitchen Love

I wouldn't change a thing in this beautiful kitchen. You know how much I love a black and white checkerboard floor having had one myself in my previous kitchen. I really want to see more of that room behind the partially opened door, don't you? Is it a bedroom? We want more in case anyone is listening reading. Simply charming!

Audrey Hepburn and E.T.

Audrey Hepburn photographed by Richard Avedon - New York 1967

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial came to Earth in 1982
Was he looking for his mother?
Am I the first person to notice the similarity between these two beloved movie stars? Was Steven Spielberg influenced by this Richard Avedon portrait? I know he's an art collector. Did he base this adorable Science Fiction character on this photograph? Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993) was still alive when the movie was released. I wonder if she saw it and remembered this photo shoot? I think she would have loved being called E.T.'s mother, don't you?

Make Do and Mend -- Again

My grandmother used to take outgrown hand-knitted garments apart and reuse the yarn for other knitting projects. Rush over to The Homely Place to see more versions of the "Make Do and Mend" slogan that is so timely once again. Elbow patches are all the fashion these days so don't throw away your worn garments. Patch and be proud.
