Potting and Tool Shed

Posted on 1/11/11 at 11:11am because I couldn't resist. Don't you love this composition? I am glad for a break from gardening and have happily traded these tools for a snow shovel. And you?

Seeing Double

A beautiful image to start or end your day depending on your time zone. I've got a rather busy morning ahead with an office meeting, some broker open houses and a showing with a customer at noon. There is the added excitement of the frenzy before the snow storm that's coming. As usual, I'm running late. See you later.

Sleeping With Reindeer

Mongolian Nomad sleeping with the reindeer.
Isn't this an amazing photo? Found on Pixdaus. I'll be tucking in pretty soon myself. Goodnight.

Let It Snow, I Don't Care

I'm so glad Webster's bed his hidden behind the sofa so this garish blanket isn't the first thing you see when you walk in the room. It's a very preppy hot pink and green and Webster loves this thrift shop find. The weather people keep talking about significant snow tomorrow night but we don't care as long as there's power and dog food.

Downton Abbey on PBS

Aristocrats and servants face a changing world in the new PBS period drama Downton Abbey. This excellent Masterpiece Classic series (in four parts) follows an aristocratic British family and its servants in a drama set in the early 20th century.
Masterpiece | Downton Abbey | PBS

I watched the premier episode last night and loved it so much I just wanted to crawl inside the TV. "Downton Abbey" is all that "Upstairs, Downstairs" was, and more. It is being repeated at various times all week long or you can watch Episode One on the PBS website. This series was a huge hit in the UK, that's why the DVD is already available.

Did you see it and like it as much as I did? Please watch this series.

This has to be the best calendar ever, right? You might as well start out the new year with a really positive attitude. Available via this Etsy shop.

French Pink Limonade

This bottle is definitely a keeper after I drink the non-alchoholic contents. It's almost too pretty to open.

NO, MY NAME ISN'T SNOWBALL

Could this be the reason all shearling coats are lined on the inside only? This beautiful sheep doesn't seem too concerned however.

Antique Pig Family

I just walked past these hand-carved pigs and snapped a photo without rearranging them. They were probably part of a Noah's Ark. I should have taken the time to move them around for their debut on my blog but I didn't. Sorry. It's Sunday and these were Sunday toys. Check back, my OCD will make me take another picture. :-)

Much better ~ I'm happy now.

Footprints in the Snow

There is big melting going on at the cottage this morning. Those footprints in the snow are mine, all mine. The birds are thrilled that I finally filled up their feeders and there is a flurry of activity. Tabitha is happy too. She loves to sit behind the slider downstairs and watch them and sun herself at the same time. Cats really know how to entertain themselves, don't they. Enjoy your Sunday; I'll be back in a bit.

A Bluebird and A Double Rainbow

I've never been lucky enough to get a shot like this. You know I love bluebirds and have them here at the cottage. This has to be the ultimate happy photo of a bluebird and a double rainbow. I love it.

Still Life with Books

Very nice art photography. I love the crackled face on the clock. This is certainly the perfect weekend to practice your still life photography or actually curl up with a good book in front of an open fire. I'm going to look for an old movie to watch later.

Mid-century Street Photographer and Nanny: Vivian Maier

Self portraits by Vivian Maier, Street Photographer and Nanny

Take a break and watch this wonderful video about a young historian who discovered the vast life work of a talented unknown photographer. Vivian Maier will enjoy posthumous fame and hopefully will be embraced by fans who want to buy prints. If you live in Chicago you will want to attend a showing of her photographs this month. I found out about all of this while visiting Piewacket.

Snowy Landscapes At The Cottage

These landscapes with snow were snapped late yesterday along with Webster's pics that have already been published. He loves it when I tell him his fan club is still going strong. Have a great weekend.

Snow Caps on Weeds

Maybe we'll get more snow today and maybe we won't. The sky is gray and it's really cold so we'll just have to wait and see. Photo from yesterday. Even the weeds are beautiful with snow caps, aren't they. Have a great weekend. Be back later.
