Tangerines in a Georgian Glass Bowl

The Florida tangerines are so delicious right now and so reasonably priced. I try to keep the Georgian glass bowl on my kitchen farm table filled with fruit. The perfect healthy snack is always within easy reach. This grouping is extra tart and juicy and so easy to peel, just the way I like them.

Wonderful Small Kitchen

Don't you want to see more of this delightful small kitchen? You could stand in one place and pivot. I'm guessing the stove is to the left and the refrigerator is opposite the sink. It's a nice simple design and you know I love the marble counters.

Delightful Illustration

Pretend this is your window. Wouldn't it be nice to look outside and see geese pecking around in the snow? Don't you love the Gothic arches in the picture window? Artwork found here.

Cool and Goofy Short Film about LEGOs

Don't let this scary face keep you from watching this film about legos. Everybody knows somebody who was once obsessed with these small building bricks and maybe this little film will bring them back again. I don't see the young children I know playing with them these days and it's a shame because legos are the best toys for budding architects and inventors. Watch and laugh and pass it on.

Tulips of Gold

The black background in this photograph reminds me of the darkness outside my window just now as I write my last post of the day. I'll say goodnight with golden tulips.

Dibs On These Bedroom Bookcases

The only things that would make this picture more perfect would be reading lamps attached to both sides of the bookcases. Agreed? Dibs, this room is mine because I love it the best. The natural light even comes in from the left when you are in bed. Swoon. found here

Bring Back This Stove

The oatmeal ran over yesterday morning (don't you hate it when that happens?) and made a big mess that I didn't have time to clean up because I was running late. I was wishing my stove had a rolltop device for hiding the the puddle around my big burner and then I ran across this photo. All stoves should be made like this. When you aren't cooking you have another work surface too. Older is sometimes better.

Life's Little Instruction Book | Volume II, Page 30

It's been a while since I published a page from Life's Little Instruction book. Sorry. I won't wait so long again. I know you love reading this man's advice to his son when he went off to college. Always inspiring.

Golden Swans of Tuonela

Another beautiful and peaceful photo to start or end your day depending on your timezone. Tuenola, Finland is the spot where these 8 swans are swimming. So still, so serene, so beautiful! I hope your day is that way too. "The Swans of Tuonela" is the title of the picture which refers to an opus by Jean Sibelius. photo credit

Chic Paris Apartments

French interior designer Pierre Yovanovitch’s duplex overlooks one of Paris’s most exclusive addresses: the Élysée Palace, once home to Mme. de Pompadour and now the official residence of the French president. “The view is the highlight of the apartment,” he remarks. A window in the master bedroom, above, frames the Eiffel Tower perfectly. In this room, the designer lined the walls with Italian brown cashmere and opted for dark colors and darker woods to bring a sense of intimacy to the space. The watercolor of lions (circa 1920) is by Paul Jouve. (Published in Architectural Digest September 2004)

Hanging Cupboard over Desk

I absolutely love the hanging cupboard over this desk with all the slots and cubbies. I once had one in old red paint and I've always regretted selling it. Isn't the vellum indenture hanging on the wall fabulous? I just picked up three from an estate sale; not quite as elegant as the one in this photo.

Photo Disguised As A Landscape Painting

Here is another photograph of the Audumn Sky that is as pretty as any painting I've ever seen. via Things are getting back to normal and I have my first office of the year this morning. I haven't checked the list but I honestly doubt that there will be any open house tours today. Things do seem to be picking up so we'll see. I'll be back later.

Lamp Love

Ever on the lookout for the perfect reading lamp, this one is definitely a contender.You-know-who has his eye on the wing chair's fur-covered cushion. Plop me down here, give me an ottoman, and buzz me when it's spring. Love the maps too.  *

Great List ~ Best of Tech 2010

I always read 'best of 2010' lists when I see them. Glance over this one and I'm sure you'll find something of interest. I liked the second item called Dropbox and have been meaning to download it but haven't yet. But I will. Blogging about it will serve as a bookmark. When you click on the Dropbox link you'll be able to watch a video so you will understand the simple concept. It's Pure Genius! The New York Times thinks so too. They featured it last Thursday in their technology section.

Flamingo Meets Reflection

An absolutely amazing photo by Beth Goodson. She calls it "Joined at the water." It's very painterly, isn't it? I love this bird's markings reflected in the rippled water looking so much like the marbleized paper in my antiquarian books.
