My Bedroom for Tonight

This is the bedroom I've chosen to sleep in tonight. Isn't it lovely? I love the bed hangings and the beautiful groupings of framed antique prints on either side of the bed. I collect miniature antique chests and I like the one on the table in the first photo.

Have a great evening. See you in the morning.

Antique Owl Andirons

I've always liked figural cast iron andirons -- especially the owls. My friend Jill has a pair with eyes made from antique marbles. These are nice too. Another friend has a pair of Hessian Soldiers. It's a good time to fire them up now that it's getting colder.

We are having a miserable cold rain today but at least it's not snow which must hold off until after Friday. I'm getting my gutters cleaned one day this week. After that I won't give a hoot.

Sliding Barn Door To Cover TV

I just can't get enough of these interior sliding doors mounted on hardware originally designed for barns. I especially like the idea of hiding the television set and other electronics behind a small one. Found here. Now someone will have to design a garage-door-opener remote for the lazy viewer.

My other posts about interior sliding doors are here.

Woolen Socks Drying Beside An Open Fire + A Kitten

I can hardly wait for a day like this -- drying my socks and mittens in front of an open fire while drinking a cup of hot chocolate. Won't be long now.

This little kitten already dressed for such an occasion could sit there with me too.

I was astonished to learn that Suzanne in Connecticut had snow this morning. She posted some lovely pictures on her blog. Oh dear, I must get my gutters cleaned this week before it comes this way.

Good Night Moon

Time to turn off the computer and see if there's anything to watch on Sunday night TV. See you in the morning. Sleep tight. It always takes me a few days to get used to the new time. So far, I'm not a fan of this early darkness. It makes me sleepy way too early.

I took this photo from my second floor balcony looking to the back of my property one moonlit night.

Vintage Mother Goose Alphabet To Cut and Paste

Isn't this vintage Mother Goose alphabet wonderful? It's from the early 20th century and I know you'll have fun with it. Click to enlarge the image.

Cut and paste with your scissors or your photo editing software. This would be good for creating an advent calendar for the upcoming Christmas season too. I'm sure you will think of many other handcrafted items to make using it. I scanned this pictorial alphabet from one of my antiquarian books on Historic Alphabets and Initials. Other alphabets available here.

An Elegant Conservatory

Yes, I will accept any and all invitations to parties in this wonderful conservatory. It is so elegant and tasteful, isn't it?

Smiling Lamb to Cheer You

Have a Happy Sunday. Isn't this smiling lamb adorable? I had to get up this morning at a little before 4am because the smoke alarm in the hall started beeping. I was so annoyed but I got up and changed the battery. Luckily I had a big package handy on the kitchen table because I was planning to change all of them today. So much for my extra hour of sleep. :-)

Don't Forget To Set Your Clocks Back Tonight

When you wake up on Sunday morning you'll be refreshed because of the extra hour you'll get when you set your clock back on Saturday night. Daylight savings time is over. Boo Hoo.

To remember which way to turn the dial I always say:
Spring Forward,
Fall Back.

Optical Illusion Garden Backdrop

The forced perspective in the architectural trellis work on the mansion fools the eye into thinking there is depth on a flat wall. Are there any workmen that can create these masterpieces today? I've always admired this artistic workmanship. The photo was scanned from one of my home landscaping books. Have a great weekend.

Turquoise Blue Door in Brussels

This is quite an amazing entrance, isn't it? There are more views of #6, a wonderful Art Nouveau building in Brussels here.

Grace Kelly Wasn't A Fan of Hollywood

"I hated Hollywood. It’s a town without pity. Only success counts. I know of no other place in the world where so many people suffer from nervous breakdowns, where there are so many alcoholics, neurotics and so much unhappiness. —Grace Kelly"
Thanks, misswallflower

White Bedroom with Fireplace :: So Nice

I think I'll bed down here tonight with a big roaring fire. We're having damp chilly weather here at the cottage and this room looks nice and cozy for Webster and me. It would be a nice room to wake up there just tomorrow morning to start the weekend. Have a good one.

Beautiful Early American Dollhouse

This is wonderful. I am so glad Nancy Allen's signed dollhouse survived in such good shape. If only those walls could talk. Massive size: 47" high x 5'6" wide. Image found on 1stdibs but was sold.
