The Book Room | Literally

Books on the celing, books on the floor, books on the walls. This must be the book room. I'm sorry I did not bookmark the source of this wonderful photo that I just found on my computer.

Moonlight Mowing

I had a very productive day working outside almost the whole day long. It's a little after 7:30 PM and I just finished my mowing about 15 minutes ago. It looks so nice. I think it might rain because I can hear thunder rumbling and the wind is starting up. The leaves will blow away since the grass is nice and short. So happy . . . and tired. I'm glad I put everything away instead of leaving my cart and tools out in the open the way I've been doing all week. I am a master weed puller and it shows. I've been spending about 3 hours per day for ever so long pulling them up by hand. I hate crabgrass.

On the Other Side of the Wall

Isn't this a lovely scene? What a perfect place to be. The beautiful home on the other side of the wall is perfectly framed by this circular opening. In England no doubt.

Halloween Witch on Barn

I wonder when these people will hang up their Halloween witch? I have to drive by once the leaves start to turn and check. It's pretty wonderful, isn't it? I took this photo last year.

Carrot Cake + Whoopie Pie = Heavenly Cookies

A carrot oatmeal cookie cake whoopie pie with maple cream cheese frosting. Heavenly. These are definitely on my 'To Bake' list. Go to Peace of Cake and read the college girl's recipe. Why didn't I have someone like this in my dorm when back in my college days? She was trying to replicate Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies which were my favorite lunch box treat when I was a kid. There is a mention of adding raisins in the directions but none are called for in the ingredients and I don't see any in the photo. So forget the raisins.

1934 DeSoto Airflow Automobile

Cars are not my thing. I only ask that they start when I turn the key and get me where I'm going. I do however like this 1934 DeSoto for some reason. I like the shape and everything about it. Found on Pixdaus. It would look very cool parked in front of my cottage.

It's Almost Time For My First Fire

I found this photo in my files. I'm posting it to remind me to clean out the ashes from my fireplace and set up the wood for my first fire of the season. It will soon be time.

Decorative Purple Kale for Fall

I'll have to buy some decorative kale next week for several planters in the front that now contain geraniums with no flowers. I like kale much better than mums in the fall because the plants last a lot longer. The mums get zapped with the first killing frost but the kale just keeps on going and growing because it's a cold weather crop.

My Antique Silver Hedgehog Pincushion

While we are on the subject of hedgehogs, I decided to take two more photos of my little antique fellow since he sun was shining so brightly on my marble kitchen counter.

He's a solid silver hallmarked pincushion in the shape of a hedgehog. The marks indicate that it was made in Birmingham England in 1903. I got it on an an antique house call years ago and it's one of my favorite things. I had to provide all the quills; the straight pins aren't antique. The stuffing is some kind of coarse animal hair (probably horse). He's pretty wonderful, isn't he?

Happiness

I've had this wonderful quote saved in my photos forever. Back then I never thought to save the source information . . . sorry. I love this, don't you? I must admit that I am an expert at looking beyond the imperfections.
