Actress Katharine Hepburn Honored on Postage Stamp

"Katharine Hepburn, star of such classic movies as 'African Queen' and 'Little Women,' took her place on a U.S. postage stamp this past Wednesday.

The 44-cent stamp was dedicated in ceremonies in Old Saybrook, Conn., and is on sale nationwide.

The red-haired actress becomes the 16th star to be honored on the U.S. Postal Service's Legends of Hollywood stamp series.

During her long career Hepburn won four Academy Awards, the first for her performance in 'Morning Glory' in 1933.

Her other Oscar performances were in 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner,' 1967; 'The Lion in Winter,' 1968, and 'On Golden Pond,' 1981." USPS.com

Vintage Red Porch Glider

Which way would you want to face while sitting on this great vintage red porch glider? Maybe it looks out on an equally gorgeous view and it probably does. I'd love to have a glider like this for my balcony. Photo from Country Living magazine. Have a great weekend.

Cubby Love

Swoon I always stop to check out photos with walls of cubbies. I know there are lost of you out there that like them too. Happy Friday. I finished my mowing this morning before I even had a second cup of coffee. I will do the front today hopefully. Have a great day. I'll be back later.

Pardon Me! Insects Having a Private Moment.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Longlegs,
I think I captured your insect intimacy without even realizing it until I started processing the photo. Sorry. Next time pick a spot away from my front door so I can't see you.
Thanks, Rosemary

I took this photo of a dragonfly almost a year ago over Memorial Day Weekend 2009.

Miniature Cast Iron Urn

I couldn't believe my luck when I found not one but two of these cast iron urns in a rare small size at a garage sale for $1.00 each. I have them planted with succulents and they give me lots of pleasure sitting on my kitchen windowsill. This one is photographed in front of my favorite set of antiquarian books with hunting motifs on the spines of the fine leather bindings. Life is good!

First Hummingbird Sighting Today

I hung my hummingbird feeder a couple of weeks ago outside my kitchen window. I've noticed that the level of the sugar-water solution I prepared has been going down and today I found out why. Those tiny birds have discovered their sweet nectar and have been feasting while I wasn't looking. It's going to be hard to get decent pictures through the screen. When it gets warmer I'll have to hide out on the balcony and wait, camera in hand. I am thrilled. Stay turned for more hummingbird news.

I had to bring my cilantro and thyme indoors because of the recent cold snap.

Bookmark This Bookmark :-)

Don't you love the floral nosegay used as a bookmark? How pretty these posies look inside the antiquarian book. The sun is finally shining brightly at my house and there is a heavy dew this morning. When everything dries out I have lots of mowing to do. Have a wonderful Thursday. I'll be back later, Rosemary.

Path Covered by Arched Rose Arbors

Is it dark yet? Can I go to bed while it's still light outside? Eight o'clock is usually my bewitching hour to jump under the covers and watch prime time TV. When I turn out the lights and fall asleep I hope I'll dream about this beautiful rose garden. Goodnight. See you tomorrow morning.

Such A Busy Mom

I though I was busy until I found this photo of a Mama Duck and her 10 precious yellow ducklings. She really has her wings full, doesn't she? I am simply swamped with paperwork and am working as hard as I can to dig myself out. Luckily it is too cold and wet to work outside.

Antique Bookplate About Birds, Books and Flowers

No wealthy monarch can possess
A greater store of golden hours
Than can be found in happiness
Of birds and books and flowers
I've always loved the message on this bookplate in one of my antiquarian books. It's perfect, isn't it? Have a great day. Wish me luck; I'm having a broker open house at my new listing.
