Free Pancakes Today at IHOP

If you love pancakes then this is your day. IHOP restaurants across the country are hoping to stack up donations for Children's Miracle Network and other local charities.

IHOP plans on doing this by offering a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes and inviting people to make donations to the charities.

This is not the first time IHOP has celebrated National Pancake Day.

Last year pancake lovers donated $1.5 million dollars to children's charities and IHOP served up 2.5 million free pancakes, which they estimate, would have reached nearly 20 miles high.

You can receive your free short stack from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM today only.

So enjoy a free meal and support children's charities all at the same time.

Tuesday Morning in February

ERY beautiful flowers make everything look better. I woke up this morning to a dusting of snow and a dreary gray day. Everything's white again. I thought some images of flowers might cheer everyone up.

The font is seventeenth century French scanned from one of my antiquarian books. I thought it was perfect for this post.

"From December to March, there are for many of
us three gardens: the garden outdoors,
the garden of pots and bowls in the house,
and the garden of the mind's eye." - Katherine S. White

Delightful Bedroom

I love everything about this bedroom. The red and white ticking duvet cover, the feedbag pillow with several red stripes, the putty gray walls, and especially the white interior shutters. I'd love to have a window like this behind my bed. Absolutely fabulous. I love my actual bedroom very much but this one caught my eye...especially since bedtime is approaching and tonight is a great TV night. I always watch prime time in bed.
See you tomorrow. xo, Rosemary

White House of the Confederacy in Richmond, VA

The White House of the Confederacy, a neoclassical mansion built in 1818, is now a National Historic Landmark that has been carefully preserved to present its wartime grandeur. From its specific era décor to its furnishings and paintings, when guests walk through the White House, they will indeed feel as though they are walking through the home of the Jefferson Davis family who lived in the house from 1861-1865.

I have several of these original signed etchings with a wonderful impression. Unframed size is 12" x 16" ~ let me know if you are interested in purchasing one. $35.00 each with free shipping in USA. Thanks, Rosemary

540,000 Miles, Same Owner Same Engine

This is an unusual love story involving an 89-year-old woman and her beloved car named Chariot. The two have been together for decades and traveled more than 540,000 miles across this nation's highways and side streets. Chariot is a 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente. The car and the woman have traveled to the moon and back...over half-a-million miles together. Awesome!

This information was written in 2007. She's now 91 going on 92 and I think Chariot has more than 560,000 miles on her. Watch the video and be inspired. I'm going to show it to the men at my garage and tell them I want to make an appointment for my new best friend. She insists on staying with her car while its being worked on or she goes elsewhere. She's a mechanic's worst nightmare. I love her; Rachel is my new hero. Don't forget to watch the Rachel Updates too. She gives new meaning to the word frugality. I look forward to your comments. Don't forget to share with your friends.

Many thanks to Penny and Randy who sent me the link.
xo, Rosemary

Four Inspiring Interiors I'm Liking Today

I liked each of these photos for obvious reasons. I love the stack of unfinished business on the desktop in the third photo. I still haven't finished organizing my office but I'm getting there. Once I get it perfect, I'll mess it up good and proper when I get out all of my tax stuff. Happy Monday...have a great week. Rosemary

Cottage Style Inside And Out

A sweet cape cod all decked out for summer.

This is too nice. Understated and simple. What a view.

Nice porch with blue painted steps. A wonderful scooter parked is parked at the curb.

I love the cabinet doors that go all the way to the floor without a kick plate.
Just sharing a few more interiors and exteriors I've been saving for you.

Memo To All Dogs

I haven't been having this problem with Webster since the thermometer has risen lately. But I know exactly what that chalkboard message is all about. Others in cold climates will too. What a pity dogs can't read. That crazy dog above thinks it's hilarious and so do I. via

Book Cover From A More Innocent Time

Bunny Brown and His Sister Sue and Their Shetland Pony By Laura Lee Hope, the author of the Bobbsey Twins books. The Bunny Brown stories were eagerly welcomed by the children from about five to ten years of age in the first quarter of the 20th century. This title was published in 1916 ~ I sold this volume years ago and just found the image on my hard drive. The lively doings of inquisitive little Bunny Brown and his smart, trustful sister Sue provided hours of entertainment.

Children don't look like this anymore, do they? Now they look like miniature adults. I miss smocked dresses and romper sets. Oh well, I'm not in charge of the juvenile fashion industry. I do think socks at the seashore look rather odd though. The illustrator Florence England Nosworthy didn't think so, I guess it wasn't proper to go barefoot back then. I doubt that anyone would nickname a boy Bunny nowadays. I never read these books as a child, did you?

Attention All Boys ~ Learn Carpentry

Me too. This was posted by an 18 year old blogger from New Zealand. I agree and I am a zillion years older. A carpenter is about the best thing you can be and too few young people today realize this. You can build the things in your head that are so hard to describe to a hired man. You can never have too many bookshelves, can you?
I recently found a really interesting article about Thomas Jefferson's BOOK BOXES with the dimensions he used for his. These sound perfect and I really want a set or two. They have built reproductions at Monticello. Thomas Jefferson designed them and thought they were the perfect way to store, display, and travel with his books. They look very simple, don't they? Bookshelves don't have to be ornamental in any way. The books they hold are the decoration.

Do Want This Folk Painting Of A Sleeping Cat

  • A Cat's Dream: Waiting for the Right Moment to Pounce.
  • Unsigned. Oil on canvas 18" x 20" in a molded bird's-eye maple frame.
  • Condition: Relined, scattered retouch.
  • Estimate $6,000-8,000.
This painting is the best. Coming up at Skinner. I wonder if cats really have dreams like this? They probably do. This would be a nightmare for me because of the mice but a pleasant dream for this tabby.

Looks like a good sale. Skinner always puts together wonderful things to attract dealers and collectors alike. I once sold an early paint-decorated tall clock there. Are you going? Will you bid online?
