Do You Know Where Your Food Comes From?

Watch OPRAH today or record the show if you will not be home. Michael Pollan (Food 101) and Alicia Silverstein will be guests. Alicia will discuss her new vegan cookbook The Kind Diet.

Read more about the show, watch a video, and try 4 recipes from The Kind Diet. My DVR is set to record in case I'm not home. This should be good.

Mind Games

The mind/body connection is amazing, isn't it? Try this. You really can't control your foot no matter how hard you try. Just a little useless information that might add a little fun to your day. Especially if you are trapped in a cubicle at work. Share it with your co-workers and friends. They'll like it too. Rosemary

Ask THE BOOK SEER For Reading Recommendations

I filled in my most recently read book.

These birding books were recommended. Cool.
This is so wonderful and exciting. If you've ever read a book on a specific subject and want to read similar books, The Book Seer is your GO TO website. She (the man calls her Madam) did an excellent job of finding more general birding books for me as well as very specific target books about some of the characters in the book I just finished: The Big Year by Mark Obamascik. Good job. I love this site and so will you. It's like having your very own personal librarian. Rosemary

Yesterday's Rainbow

I wish I could say the double rainbow was the one I saw late yesterday afternoon just before dusk instead of the second one. I've had the first phogo saved to my computer for ages. The second one is mine. My cottage really is at the end of the rainbow, isn't it? Any rainbow sighting is always exciting, especially after two solid days of rain.

UPDATE: Audrey Hepburn Auction December 8, 2009

UPDATE: The black cocktail dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in the film 'How to Steal a Million' has sold for nearly $100,000 at auction.

Kerry Taylor Auctions says the Chantilly lace dress was purchased by an anonymous bidder for 60,000 pounds (about $97,700). The auctioneer said the Dec. 8 sale made a total of 268,320 pounds ($436,567) and that half of the net proceeds will go to The Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund.

Many of Audrey Hepburn's most famous outfits including the coat, knitted top, and little black dress above will be going under the hammer to raise money for The Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund. Kerry Taylor Auctions will be holding the sale on December 8th in London. Browse the catalog ~ scroll down to the end of the page. Audrey's items are on pages 15, 16, and 17; items #283-331. Why not treat yourself to an early Christmas present and help a worthy cause at the same time?

Mini Pies Baked in Jars | Brilliant

Read more. More photos and recipes too for single-serving fruit pies and even little chicken pot pies baked in jars. I love this, don't you. Great for portion control for those of us (me) who want to eat the whole pie sliver by sliver. Who thought of this first? There are so many clever people out there. Thankfully we have the Internet to connect us. Hope you are enjoying your Monday as much as I am. Rosemary

Today's Weather Is For The Birds

If I dared put one toe out the door with my camera I would be faced with this kind of weather. It's pouring and the wind is howling. Thankfully, I don't have to go out for anything except a dog walk or two much later when the rain subsides.

I was half asleep this morning while monitoring three comments on my Blogger Dashboard. I put a check mark beside each one and hit the REJECT button instead of the PUBLISH button. I've tried but this can't be undone. I've written each person to resubmit but in case they don't I would like to thank and apologize to the following:

Laundry Room Love

You know how much I love to do laundry by now. I am totally in love with the amazing room in the photo above dedicated to this necessary task. Have you ever seen a better one? I certainly haven't. I'm sure there is a clothes dryer in there somewhere but it is not the focus. How heavenly. I am absolutely positive that there is a drying yard outside too. I did five loads last week to take advantage of warm temperatures and sun. Now we have rain. It was great while it lasted. I am still quite pleased with my homemade laundry soap/detergent too. I just wish I'd made it sooner. Happy Monday, Rosemary.
