Leaves to Rake and Late Dog Dinners

I spent the last three days working for hours on end outside and it felt so good. My listing sold on Monday and I can stop looking at my phone, at last! It was a very difficult two months with a happy ending so I really can't complain.

Dogs tell time by their stomachs and you can't fool them by turning the hour hand back an hour. This made me laugh and I have no idea where I found it.

Raised Hearth Fireplace: So Nice!

This entire image says cozy, doesn't it? There must be a window nearby for birdwatching to complete the picture. The all white paint on all interior surfaces extends the ceiling height so the mantle decor doesn't look cramped. I see some fireplace equipment for open fire cooking too. Perfection!
I have already wasted over an hour trying to change the time on my watch. So much for daylight SAVINGS time. I have a Swiss Army water resistant watch and the bezel is locked down. You are supposed to twist it counterclockwise until it pops out but it's not working. I always have this problem so I'll just have to keep trying. I have tweezers but they aren't helping. Wish me luck. xo

Spring Forward: Daylight Savings Time

Did you remember to set your watches ahead today? I still have to set my stove, my radios, and my tall case clock.

Gardener's Hand Soap

I love this French handmade gardener's hand soap and the natural bristle nail brush in the background.  The soap dish looks like a hard rubber waterproof flower pot too. Gardening is currently on my mind even though any possibility of doing any digging in the dirt is buried under piles of snow at my cottage.
I was just looking at my calendar trying to decide when to pay certain bills and I was shocked to see Daylight Savings Time begins this weekend on March 10th. WHY? I love the way the sun is behaving right now!!! See you later. xo

Full Moon on my Tall Case Clock

I am so happy I looked at my calendar this morning and learned tonight was the full moon. I'm not that surprised because when I went to bed last night the moon was very bright. Luckily, I was able to move the moon dial on my tall case clock this morning. There is some sort of gear that locks it into position at certain times of the day but it was unlocked at 9:20 this morning. My kitchen has a low cathedral ceiling. My roofline is in sections and this was the lowest part of my attic and there was no way to stand up in any part of it. It just made good sense to incorporate it into my country kitchen at the time I was renovating 2002-2003. I had no idea the other ceilings in my cottage on the main floor with the one-room-wide living room, hallway to my two bedrooms, and full bath were 7'8" and my clock needs a full 8' to stand up with the center finial. This was the ONLY place to put it when I moved in and it turned out to be absolutely perfect. Isn't it funny how unplanned things sometimes turn out so well? See you later. xo

Lawn-Mowing Sheep

It looks as if these sheep are behind in their lawn mowing, doesn't it? I am waiting a little longer before giving mine the last mowing of the season. The Nor'easter yesterday wasn't bad at all in my area, thankfully, but it did bring down a lot of leaves though not enough to rake. Enjoy your Sunday and the last whole week of daylight savings time. via

Sweet Cottage with Front Garden

Everyone I know is anxious for spring even though we have snow on the ground and a rumored big storm is coming on Tuesday. We can dream, can't we? Enjoy the weekend and be safe. xo
Don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour tonight before you go to bed. Spring forward, you know!

Wide Angle View of My Living Room

I got a new toy today, a clip-on wide angle lens. The main room of my cottage is the entire width of the house. The window in this view look out on the front yard. Behind the green checked sofa, there are two French doors leading out to the balcony and the rear of the property. You can't see my fireplace in this photo but you can see the side bricks.

John Lennon said, "Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted time." That makes me feel better because I wasted a lot of time playing around with different lenses clipped over my iPhone camera.

My Handsome Companion

Webster loved being outside yesterday in the nice fall weather. He "helped" me rake leaves and he slept like a log after being out in the fresh air and so did I. We both woke up this morning before the alarm went off even though we "lost" an hour because daylight savings time ended.

I really did adjust the position of my sundial yesterday when it was in full sun. It registered 1:00 and I turned it back to noon. I'm always amazed at the accuracy of this timekeeper.

Someday

My new mantra. I made some calls yesterday to schedule appointments for some things I've been putting off. Calls have been returned and I'm feeling as if I'm moving forward instead of standing still. Hooray! via

Internal Clocks at Work

Tabitha and Webster aren't buying it. Daylight saving time is for humans. Daylight sleeping time is for animals.

I'm already planning my afternoon nap. Zzzzzz

Perfect Sunday Morning Setting

Doesn't this look like the perfect place to spend a nice Sunday morning? via

Everything was covered with a heavy frost when I woke up way too early this morning. Enjoy your extra hour if you live with Daylight Savings Time. Read the hilarious article in the Washington Post. The author says, "My only reason for supporting daylight saving time is that it makes keeping a work-life balance more difficult for vampires."

I certainly don't look forward to darkness setting in at 4:00 in the afternoon, do you?

'Spring Forward' Tonight | Daylight Savings Time

Before you go to bed tonight you must remember to set your clocks ahead by one hour for daylight savings time. We will lose one hour of sleep but maybe our internal clocks will let us sleep an extra hour on Sunday morning. I hope so. Remember, SPRING FORWARD, Fall Back. This little ditty always helps me figure out which way to turn the dial.

I've been waiting for this date to fiddle with the clock in my car. The time is not correct and if I have to get out the dreaded manual I might as well kill two birds with one stone. I'll be fine until the fall when I have to set it back an hour. By then I will most certainly have forgotten how and will need to consult the manual once again.

Don't Forget To Set Your Clocks Back Tonight

When you wake up on Sunday morning you'll be refreshed because of the extra hour you'll get when you set your clock back on Saturday night. Daylight savings time is over. Boo Hoo.

To remember which way to turn the dial I always say:
Spring Forward,
Fall Back.

Turn your clocks back one hour tonight . . .

Spring Forward ~ Fall Back
This little jingle helps me get it right.
