More Snow on Saturday + Petsitting + Movie Review

It snowed again last night but it was all light fluffy powder instead of the heavy wet type a few days ago. I am pet sitting again for neighbors and Henry was a trooper when we went out when he was ready around 7am.

This is the spot he chose for himself on Friday night. I put the little bed that fits in his carrier under him. I like dogs on furniture but not on my furniture πŸΎπŸΎπŸ˜‰ if you know what I mean.

His furry legs were covered in small snowballs that were hard to get off. Next time we go out I will use the hairdryer to melt them. Luckily I had a big towel handy what was recently used to clean up some spilled coffee. I keep one handy on the back of my door to the basement and it's easy to grab in an emergency. The sun is out and the thermometer is above freezing and my car is almost totally melted so I can get out easily if I had to but I don't.

I just watched a great movie on Hulu -- THE LOST KING with Sally Hawkins about the lost grave of King Richard III. It was wonderful and I loved it. It's the perfect movie for the long Presidents' Day weekend. https://www.hulu.com/movie/the-lost-king-d375d155-00b4-45ea-8584-2fbb4826f57a Enjoy!

I liked the way the sun was shining through the geranium leaves in today's last photo. Have a great weekend. xo

Snow Day????? Not Really❄️

Remember these show shovels I left leaning on the wall last fall? They are working to scare the snow away, just as I hoped they would! Now if I could just devise something to deter the high winds coming later. I have a friend in the Berkshires of Massachusetts who's getting two feet. Be safe if you live in such an area. I always remember getting real winter weather in March, just when spring is right around the corner.

Snow Day From My Windows

It snowed overnight and I wasn't expecting to wake up to this scene from my kitchen window.

Another kitchen window looks out to my weathervane.

View from my pantry window showing the road is black.

My front walk is already melting.
That's the nice thing about March snows; they don't last long.
Have a great Tuesday.

Thank you for stopping by. I know some of you are upset by my new look but try to remember it's still me behind the keyboard and camera.

I post daily photos on Pinterest HERE and they link to daily blog posts. This is another way to scroll thru CONTENT IN A COTTAGE.

Snow Scene: Tapping the Sugar Maple Trees

This antique oil painting is one of my favorite things and I look at it between my living room windows daily. It cools me in the summer and warms me in the winter. It is signed but I need to take it off the wall and adjust the canvas because it has slipped a bit and the whole signature isn't showing. That's a project for another day. It has a picture light above it so it's not that easy and will I have to move furniture. There is dense fog outside this morning and most of my snow has melted on the driveway with no shoveling on my part at all and that pleases me immensely. Have a great day!

Snow Day on Tuesday

Outside my front pantry/home office window.

View from the window over my kitchen sink.

View from my front vestibule door. Walk not shoveled.

Feeding frenzy.
How many times will I have to refill the feeder?

Bought navel oranges yesteday.
I ate the missing one in middle tier.
It was delicious.

View from my living room overlooking balcony and rear property.

It's not bad at all. I didn't even move my car to the front. I have nowhere to go and did my grocery shopping yesterday. By noon, the temperature will be above freezing and the melting will begin. The snow is very beautiful from the inside looking out. My road is black and cars are whizzing by but I am staying put until Mother Nature helps me out with her snow melting capability. Stay snug.

Birds and Yesterday's Snow.

Tufted Titmouse?

Black-Capped Chickadee

I think this is the Tufted Titmouse again.
Jd commented with a correction.  This a NUTHATCH.
Thanks, Jd.

The snow had just started when I took these photos yesterday and we got a couple of inches that required no shoveling at all. It changed to rain and everything melted overnight. It was fun to watch knowing it wouldn't last.

The clouds are lifting and the sun is coming out.
This was my sky earlier this morning.

Have a great day.

January Chickens

They seem to be going down the ramp willingly, don't they?
Somehow chickens and snow don't seem to go well together to me. I'm pretty sure the chickens agree. Fond here.

Portraits: Tabby Cat & A Fox in the Snow

He's absolutely gorgeous, isn't he? He looks happy and warm even though he's posing on a snow mound. Tabby cats are the best! I love his coloring, a mixture of orange and gray with black stripes. Photo found here.

This fox must be waiting for something to pounce upon without having to jump so high. What a great portrait! Photo found here. I am not ready for snow but I still love to look at snowy photographs.

Wonderful Snowy Owl Photo

A snowy owl in the snow looking quite snug!
What could be more wonderful?
I had snow all day but it didn't amount to much.
This is a fabulous photo.

A Squirrel Portrait in the Snow

This is such a great action shot of a squirrel, isn't it?
I know they are pests if you have a bird feeder
but this one just seems to be enjoying a
romp in the snow. photo source

I just checked my phone for a weather report and it's very confusing. We are either going to have snow all day or snow turning to rain depending on the temperature. Should be interesting. Either way, it's going to be messy. I vote for neither. Don't forget tonight is the beginning of Season 2 of All Creatures Great and Small on PBS. Plus Episode 2 of Around the World in 80 Days. I will be watching both! xo

SNOW DAY TODAY: Random Photos

I woke up to snow this morning and it was/is so beautiful but not too much to deal with. There was a webinar I had to sit through for a couple of hours for continuing education credits on my real estate license. I jumped up from time to time to snap some photos and the best ones are shown above. I still haven't put one toe outside and it's already noon. I must now go out and shovel my front walk and clean off my car and the sun can do the rest. Yesterday I filled up my gas tank and stopped at Whole Foods for some sweet potatoes, celery, almond flour, apples, carrots and a few other things to tide me over until the complete melt. I don't have to drive anywhere in the next few days so I am all set to shovel a little or a lot. Hope your snow was manageable too. xo

Bluebirds in The Snow

What a thrilling photograph!
Bluebirds are my favorite birds and a winter sighting is always exciting. This shelter is perfect protection from the snow or for feeding them dried meal worms. via

Golfing Snowmen + Siberian Iris in The Snow

Seeing is believing!

I had beautiful purple and white miniature Siberian Iris at my first house and I miss them. Maybe this will be the year I plant some at my cottage. I normally have tons of snowdrops popping up in late February but they are buried under two feet of snow. I will be lucky to see them by April. The rest of the week will be warm with 40s and even 50s on the thermometer. Let the melting begin. via
