Amazing Starling Murmurations: Daniel Biber Photography

The first time I saw these images I thought they were photoshopped but they are not. A German photographer, Daniel Biber, captured these starling murmurations over four days of trying. He did not even know he had succeeded until he downloaded his images from the camera. The starlings in flight have the ability to form images to scare off predators. Truth is stranger than fiction, isn't it? Read this interesting article and see more images here. I think this is thrilling, don't you? xo
UPDATE: I found an interview with Daniel Bieber, the photographer, here.
UPDATE 2: I found the video of the two girls in a canoe that Linda and Anita commented about here.

Vermont Turkeys walk to Boston

During traditional turkey drives to Boston, children of Vermont farmers typically walked with the turkeys, scattering food to lure them forward -- but perhaps they would have appreciated wagon rides.
LIBRARY OF CONGRESS photo.
"Turkey drives" were an autumnal tradition from the 1800s to the early 1900s, and involved the overland strolling of flocks of turkeys from all corners of Vermont to their destination, and demise, in Boston. Who knew? Read more about the fascinating history of this farm to table turkey drive HERE

Morning Glory Enameled Picture Frame

I bought this small frame at an estate sale long ago. I fully expected to replace the photo with one of my own but didn't have the heart. When people pick it up to look at it they always ask who he is. I always say I don't know but he reminds me of my grandfather. They usually say he looks like mine too. So there. He's everybody's grandpa.

Goodnight from the Qoukka

This animal is called a Quokka and it is the happiest thing on the planet. It smiles 24/7. Such a sweet looking animal. Two more photos here. It's from Australia and is about the size of a domestic cat.

Leaning tower straightened

I love this. I can't stand anything that's crooked. I always have the grid visible in my camera and the straightening tool is one of my favorite things. I used to do custom framing and I'm glad I did not have to cut this double mat for the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Have a great weekend. via

Gray Day Inspiration

This gray interior matches the weather outside at my house all day. I can't wait until it gets a little darker so I can jump in my bed for some quality prime time TV with the first program being Antiques Roadshow. See you tomorrow.
