Cat of Hearts

Aren't this cat's markings amazing?
She's beautiful and proud.
The Cat of Hearts, for sure.
Photo found here.

Rained most of the day here but promises to stop by 6am.
I'm watching Hetty Wainthropp Investigates on BritBox and am absolutely loving it. Instead of spending her golden years lying down, the indomitable Hetty Wainthropp found her calling late in life. Combining common sense, her husband, and her pocketbook, this senior sleuth takes on all the cases the police deem too minor. There are 4 seasons.
Have you seen it? I promise you will love it.

❤️Vintage Spools of Sewing Thread❤️

I have a huge stash of vintage sewing thread on old wooden spools and I am always rummaging in the containers trying to find the perfect color for a mending project and I am almost always successful. via

Owl with Heart Designs on His Feathers

Spot-bellied Eagle Owl with heart-shaped spots on his feathers. Photographed in Corbett National Park, India. 🖤 Photo found here.

The owlets are adorable. Found on Pinterest.
This one looks like a live stuffed toy. The rare Spot Bellied Eagle Owl has feathers with heart markings. This owl is also noted for its strange, human-sounding call. It is found primarily in the lower Himalayas from Kumaon east to Burma.

My Sunday Night Supper

Mac & Cheese
I should have posted this on Valentine's Day but I didn't. I made Mac & Cheese and added a can of tuna and frozen peas. I topped it with shredded cheddar and put it under the broiler to melt and brown. It was so good as were the leftovers for lunch the next day. xo

Scrimshaw Double Heart Mourning Pendant

Scrimshaw double heart mourning pendant, 1807

“Beauty and youth in vain to these you trust
For youth and beauty shall be laid in dust.“

This quote is so true. Growing old gracefully rather than trying to turn back the clock is quite a challenge at times.

Door Knob with Heart

I have always loved old brass door knobs in any shape. This one is especially beautiful because of the hand-carved wooden backplate. What a wonderful love token. via

Beautiful Fall Leaves

I've been picking up beautiful leaves when I walk Webster each day and pressing them. Do you think these hearts were cut by hand or with a punch? Aren't they beautiful? Have a great day and I'll see you later. xo

True Love

Don't these two pups look comfy curled into a perfect heart in the back seat of a car? I went back to bed after the cat got me up this morning and I think I might live. I worked outside all day mowing, pulling vines out of trees, trying to tidy up my visual corridor without the aid of power tools, etc. I have rolled giant logs out of sight, rearranged the huge ones so the wild roses will eventually hide them and I have to say I have enjoyed doing some hard physical work. We are having a very dry April, the third driest on record. Rain is on the forecast for tomorrow so I'll work outside again today getting ready. I still need to mow the front. See you later. image

Paw Heart

Can you possibly guess where I found this perfect heart?

Last night when Webster the wonder dog was napping on the carpet I looked down and saw for the first time that the underside of his paw has a pad that is shaped like a heart. I can't believe it took me 70 dog years to discover this amazing feature in my sweetheart of a dog!

No wonder he's so sweet. He can't wear his heart on his sleeve so he found another way of showing his love. He always sleeps with one paw tucked under so the heart pad is facing up.

Espalier Heart

Espalier (ess-PAL-yer) is the practice of controlling plant growth so that it grows relatively flat against a structure such as a wall, fence, or trellis. In the 17th Century, espalier originally referred to the frame or trellis on which the plant was trained. Today, espalier refers to both the plant and the horticultural technique of actually training the plant.

Espaliered plants can be used to create a focal point and as a form of art. In an area where space is limited or where a plant is needed to accent a large blank wall an espaliered plant can be an outstanding landscape feature. A mature espalier plant will catch the eye of almost any visitor to your home. image source This one is a real 'labor of love' isn't it?

Valentine's Day is For Everyone

A heart-shaped spatterware baking dish I got at a tag sale.

A walnut shell photographed in my birdbath. I never knew there was a heart shape inside.

I still can't believe this picture I took of a wildflower with heart shaped stamens. This is real...not photoshop trickery.

A heart shaped leaf on one of my wild vines.

All of the photos are mine.
