BEST JOYFUL MOTHER'S DAY for AN OWL (Video)

For the last two years, a hopeful owl named Luna has tried to be a mom. Sadly, however, despite her best efforts, things just didn’t pan out. “Not only did her eggs fail to hatch this year, but she also lost her clutch last year,” Robert E. Fuller, a British wildlife rehabilitator, wrote. But this year, Luna’s wish finally came true.

When Fuller came to learn of two owl chicks who’d become orphaned and were in need of a parent, his thoughts turned to Luna. Knowing that her maternal instincts were going unfulfilled again this year, he decided to introduce Luna to the two needy babies.

Fuller placed them inside her nest, awaiting her return. But would she accept them?

Footage of what happened in the video above erased all doubt.
Have you ever seen such a joyful reaction??????
Love at first sight.🦉♡♡
This wonderful story was found here.

Watch this 28 minute film when you have time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN3gfeFtpz4
It's by
Robert E.Fuller too and is entitled

PS: I read some of the comments on YouTube and found this one.
"Even better is knowing Luna was a foster owlet too."
Isn't that amazing????? Do you think she remembers she was a foster child?
This story just keeps getting better and better.
Another commenter said HE WAS RAISED BY OWLS😂

Natural Pest Control Has Wings

Barn Owls have the best ♡ shaped faces.

Shy barn owlet peeking out.

It's a lot to read but this article is very rewarding if you are at all concerned about pesticides on your fruit or in your wine. Fruit growers in California have begun putting up nest boxes in their orchards and vineyards and letting the occupants help with pest and insect control. They are finding the birds are outperforming the pesticides and I find that to be quite thrilling. I always enjoy Penelope Bianchi's owl videos on Instagram showing her barn owls bringing vermin back to the nest box to feed their young. Of course, bluebirds in nest boxes help with insect control as do other small birds.

I have two more dahlia photos awaiting processing which I will add to this post later. I have to transfer them from my Nikon camera on my attic computer which has a card reader. I am waiting for my generator to come on for the weekly 15 minute test cycle before I turn on the computer. I'm glad so many of you are still enjoying my cottage flower photos. xo

The green background seems to fighting the green dahlia foliage of this Black Velvet beauty in my backyard.

I enlarged this dahlia by cropping out all but the flower. It's the same photo I posted yesterday minus the rooster.

Is she on the inside looking out or on the outside looking in? My guess is the former. Have a great first weekend of spring.

Curious Barn Owls in UK Church Window

Richard Brooks photographed the three young Barn Owls looking out of the quatrefoil of a local church one evening in July after staking out the site most evenings over a three week period. Enlarge this amazing photo here.

As the perfect place to perch, it must have been the answer to their prayers.

Three inquisitive young barn owls used this lofty window for an early evening surveillance mission in a Norfolk churchyard.

Standing in the stone quatrefoil of Christ Church, Fulmodeston, they were keeping a beady eye open for a tasty snack of mouse, vole or shrew.

Million Dollar Owl Painting found in an Attic

William James Webbe (fl.1853-1878), The White Owl, ‘Alone and warming his five wits, The white owl in the belfry sits,’ signed with monogram and dated ‘1856’ (lower left), oil on board, 17¾ x 10 3/8 in. (45 x 26.3 cm.) © Christie’s Images Limited 2012

Alone and warming his five wits,
The white owl in the belfry sits.

I can't believe this wonderful story. I also cannot believe I am able to find such interesting news and articles on Instagram. This story will have you running to your attic to rummage around if yours is packed and you have no idea what's up there. That's what happened when a lady had to move things for a plumber in hers.
"Everyone dreams of finding that one priceless item hiding in the corners of a dust-ridden attic. One UK teacher recently experienced the joy of rescuing such a forgotten antique, all thanks to an old owl painting that turned out to be worth nearly a million dollars."
Read the entire story on The Huffington Post. Enjoy this beautiful November Saturday as I shall. xo

Another Moving Owl to Delight You

Here's Looking at You!
Enjoy the first Sunday of Fall.
It's a chilly 50º here at the cottage at 8:30 and there is a heavy dew on the meadow. I should organize my sweaters and get some outfits put together so I don't have to think in the morning. See you later. xo

Ural Owl in The Forest

Ural owl, native to Europe and Northern Asia,
He's looking cautiously around the corner from his forest lookout. This is a beautiful owl and a beautiful photograph. It's somehow comforting to look at this peaceful image as I watch the news this morning about the carnage in Paris.
