This article says they like nesting boxes made from PVC pipe. Thanks for your post.
I once read that the reason we have grackles and starlings in this country is because somebody, somewhere thought it would be a good idea for us to have all of Shakespeare's birds. Not sure whether or not this is true but now that we have them, there are too many.
Happy New Year! xo, Rosemary

Content in a Cottagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10075511188721176895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7823162730236792476.post-67144334955068227352016-01-03T17:16:48.303-05:002016-01-03T17:16:48.303-05:00Would welcome them anytime.Would welcome them anytime.Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06817710263282488135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7823162730236792476.post-51567047807278043172016-01-03T16:47:01.672-05:002016-01-03T16:47:01.672-05:00Hello Rosemary,

Now if it is European Starlings or English Sparrows we are allow to "dispatch" them. E. Sparrows are the reason for the decline of Bluebirds as they compete for nesting spots and the Sparrows will peck open their heads and build nests on top of their dead bodies! I have a Bluebird trail and so I hope no one is killing the Bluebirds as they are in severe decline!

We don't have them here in winter although my penpal in Massachusetts has them year around. Those ranchers are evil. Don't they know that bluebirds prefer insects over juniper berries when the weather is nice? How do they propose getting rid of them? You should get the Audubon Society involved.
