Vegetable Drawers That Can Breathe

I love these wooden crate drawers. They don't match the kitchen cabinets but they match the butcher block counter. They are probably designed for vegetables so they can breathe but I will fill the second one with dish towels. I love the look, don't you? Enjoy this October Monday. xo

UPDATE: I FOUND MORE PHOTOS OF THIS KITCHEN IN THE COTSWOLDS HERE.

That's a clever idea. To save energy I don't run the dry cycle on the dishwasher. So I usually leave cabinet doors open awhile after emptying the clean dishes to be sure they're dry. Those drawers would provide good ventilation.

I think the drawers add much to the visual appeal of the kitchen. Sometimes it's nice to break up an expanse of cabinets, and they do match the countertop so well. I love when function and beauty collide.

Pam -- I think adding one of these crate drawers would be a fun DIY project for anyone with the right tools. It would take careful measuring and choosing some beautiful wooden planks but that's about all. You could add a handle if you were unable to do the cutout. I think they are stunning in this kitchen and I'm glad you agree. xo, Rosemary

That is one organized kitchen! I think it's visually very attractive, but I don't know if, personally, I would like it. There is just so much grease and dust in a kitchen environment. That's why I have never been partial to open shelving in a kitchen. It just leaves everything open to too much dirt and dust.

Lisa D. -- I have never wanted open shelves for my dishes either. I love the look of these veggie drawers but doubt I would ever have them in my kitchen. It's fun to see what other people have though. Cleaning a kitchen is an ongoing job, isn't it? xo, Rosemary
