Clover is Green Despite No Rain

My grass is like straw but the clover is thriving. I have been working nonstop outside since I hired a painter to power wash and paint my house. I found him through my handyman who will be doing any wood repair. He stopped by on Tuesday afternoon to do a few chores like chainsawing some weed trees and wisteria and several other chores I couldn't do myself. I mentioned I had interviewed 6 painters and still hadn't found one. He said he knew one he had been working with for 3 years. I called him right away and he came Wednesday morning, gave me a quote and I hired him. Since then I have been working outside nonstop getting ready and I have moved mountains. He's coming to start the power washing tomorrow at 8am and I couldn't be happier. xo

Adore CLOVER. Sweet pic, leaves so HAPPY. Building block of soil, and pollinator habitat.

Truly, Building Block of LIFE.

Amusing, your process, hiring help. Living it too; adore all who help on my property.

Yesterday, flubbed up. Used push mower, hosed off, moved to gravel area to dry. Later, using riding mower did the rest of the acreage. Parked riding mower, to rinse. Soon discovered, had blown clippings from riding mower, onto drying push mower. Hard to blame my cat for this !

Man was here during the fiasco, building my Conservatory. He only works for widows. This is his retirement 'ministry'. He was amused.

Walking, this week, stopped at Estate Sale end of my road. Bought pair of large wool oriental rugs, almost free. Insulation under ca. 1900 house is poor. Thrilled. Amazed at find, living rural, surrounded by pastures.

With my Conservatory 'man' here, we used his pick-up truck to get the rugs.....and he helped put them into place.

Cheers, to your continued good fortune, getting things done. Happy for every bit of it.

Garden & Be Well, Tara

Rosemary, I am so very happy for you!! Finding a good, reliable painter is such a blessing. Now you have a carpenter/handyman, lawn tractor repairman, and a painter. Pinching yourself? Well, it couldn't happen to a nicer person. Enjoy this good fortune. Have a good weekend. Bet you won't relax one bit, lol.

Pam -- You cannot imagine how happy I am to find another great person for my personal home maintenance team! You forgot to mention my plumber who is special too. I find that if you pitch and help new people, they try harder to please you. My new painter keeps saying, "You treat me like family!" and I supposed I do. He has free reign of my downstairs to use the refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine as well as the bathroom. I don't think he took more than 20 minutes for his lunch break. It was worth the wait and all the interviewing to find him and he's a keeper. Missy is down for her after-breakfast food coma and we are both having a nice Sunday morning. Hope you are too, Pam. xo, Rosemary

Tara Dillard -- Tara, My readers will be so happy you are back with your wonderful stories. You packed a lot into this one. How nice to have a skilled carpenter who only works for widows. That is indeed a much-needed specialty for sure. I have been wondering if I could hose down my push mower and if you can I guess I can too. Nice score with the oriental rugs. I love old ones no matter how warn they are. You will be so much snugger this winter. I'm glad you adore all of the workers who help you with your property as do I. They are all so worthy of our kindness. Have a great gardening weekend. xo, Rosemary

Oh my, yes, a trusted plumber is worth his/her weight in gold. One of our biggest regrets in moving was the fact we couldn't bring our "team of helpers" with us. I even adore our garbage men. Glad you and Missy are resting. You must need it!

Love the clover. Have been gradually replacing as much of my grass with clover as possible.

Lynn Marie -- I want to do that too. I have always loved clover and it's so good for the bees. xo, Rosemary
