This is what we are having built off our kitchen door even as I type. I would have liked a covered porch but the roofline made that difficult so we are having a deck and pergola built instead. I've been concerned has to how the bottom of our posts would be built, thank you Rosemary for cementing my own thoughts on this problem by posting this rendition. I like how the supporting posts are cased on this plan.
