Enjoying The Hammock

Jessie Willcox Smith is one of my favorite illustrator. Isn't this adorable? I don't recall ever having seen this one before. via
We are having a hot week in New Jersey but it cools off at night enough to turn off the central air and open bedroom windows. I can tolerate air conditioning during the day but dislike being sealed at night. I miss the sounds of outside too much. This arrangement works for me and I love waking up to birdsong in the morning. Stay cool. xo

Over the years, you have posted some of the very best from Jessie Willcox Smith, and isn't this one adorable? I wonder if it was created for a magazine publication?

My all-time favorite of hers is the little girl reading---on a floral chintz sofa with the sunlight streaming through the window behind her.

Thanks, Rosemary. Stay cool.

I knew as soon as I saw this it must be JWS. Her paintings radiate warmth and charm and innocence. So happy to see a new one.

We are doing the same here in Utah Rosemary, air on in the day and windows open at night. I'm loving that it cools down at night here, it was always too hot and humid to open the windows in the summer in VA. Everything would get damp and my asthma would increase. Now if only we were allowed to have a clothes line, this is the perfect place for outdoor clothes drying and the sun would make everything so white.
