Construction Projects Nearby

This lovely barn/garage/loft/shed is somewhat new construction built on an old stone foundation.

A recent house fire destroyed a beautiful 18th century home and it is being torn down. Owners who weren't home at the time will rebuild. A neighbor told me flames were shooting up from the basement. I'm wondering if it was started by a dryer fire?

New construction replacing an 18th century house in horrible condition that could not be saved.

All three of these photos are on the same street with only a few homes in between. Photographed from my car yesterday on my way home from a haircut.

Nice to see them tastefully rebuilding. I hope the third one is done as well.

The new house construction is very beautiful, love the windows and clapboard siding. It looks to me like they are building a lovely redo and trying to honor the past. It must have been heart wrenching for them to lose their home and possessions to a fire.

Some can be saved, others can't but how lucky for you and the entire neighborhood that those that can't are being replicated.

I always cringe when someone buys an old house and remodels the interior in a sleek modern style. Worse yet, in California they'll buy a tiny cottage in a well-established neighborhood, tear it down and build an awful McMansion that towers over all the other houses.

Grumble, grumble, grumble. ;-)

Gail, that's happening a couple blocks from us in Minnesota. A wonderful rambler that fit the neighborhood well is gone and the new multi-story house almost fills the lot with no place for kids to play. Such a shame.
