Dowager Duchess of Devonshire's Home

I have a feeling this March 2nd auction at Sotheby's in London will be mobbed. Be sure to expand the description beside each photo in the slideshow by clicking "See More". You will then be able to read wonderful things about her like this: “If second childhood means going back to first loves in old age then I am deep in it.”

Oh, to be a fly on the wall ... at the auction, that is ... and see such a plethora of mementos to be had by those with a fistful of cash. Thanks for showing us the warm interiors of her home. Love that she was an Elvis fan!

I love all of your posts.....I do not comment enough to tell you.
This is one of my favorites. She (DEBO) was one of my favorite humans.

Everything about her and her house is what I love and treasure in life.

I am hoping to be able to buy a "scrap" of her auction. We shall see.

I guess everything will go wildly over estimates....As it should!

She was a "human treasure"; and her things she selected to take with her....are also treasures. I will try to snag one!

ps I did snag one little on from "sister Parish's" auction......I adore it!

I've read several books about the Duchess and her family. I find her so fascinating as were her crazy sisters. This article reminded me of Bunny Mellon too, don't know why, I guess because they both were of the same era and had such amazing lives.
