I'd always heard that plenty of rose hips, seeds, acorns, etc. meant a hard winter was coming - the plants new of the hardship and produced extra for the animals and birds so they could survive harsh weather. At least we have gardens and stores to help us stock up.Beautiful photo.

Loads of acorns down my way. Squirrels should have enough to get them through the winter--if they can remember where they have hidden them all. :-)
